Pep Boys Manny Moe And Jack Is this 'skinning' Ripoff Mesa Arizona
I went to a Pep-Boys to have a front end alignment performed on my car. They have an advertised price of $69.99. I agreed to this and once the car was on the rack, I was told the $69.99 was only to perform a 'toe' adjustment. There are three adjustments to be made when performing an alignment - caster, camber and toe. I was told that on my car, a '88 Caprice, the caster and camber adjustments would be done at the shop labor rate of $83/hr in addition to the $69.99 charge. Reason they gave was that my car uses shims to adjust caster and camber (true enough) and their price for alignment is only for cars which use a 'cam adjustment'.
Nobody else charges these extra charges, and last time I knew, and alignment is three adjustments and not one. I can see paying for shims as needed, but not additional labor to install (or remove) them.
Pep Boys, I want my money back. My car is no better off now than it was before.

Yes you were scammed by Pepboys. If this were legit they would tell you upfront of additional charges, as they would have known this prior to ever getting your car on the lift. But since it was "already on the lift" why not do it now. Never take your car to pepboys for anything.
