Pep Boys ripoff, Bait and switch! Sandy Springs Georgia
Pep Boys Power Window Motor 79 dollars... Comes with what i call a half tranaxle like an L, $50 to $70 to $300 to replace. you buy it then return it for installation. Bait and switch!
Most people can not replace the tranaxle unit. it's revited to the door frame
Example 1986 crown vic... By disconnecting the power supply. Anyone can loosen two long bolts remove the motor only and replace it with one from a junk yard for a dollar or two.
I think this is true in some way with their water pumps not fitting what they claim they fit

ACTUALLY, I WENT TO THE BOYZZZ TO SEE THE PART.NOT BUY IT.
IF ALL COMPANYS RIVET THE MOTOR / TRANAXLE UNIT TO THE DOOOR .
WHY WAS I ABLE TO REPLACE THE MOTOR MYSELF.UNDER 5 BUCKS I MIGHT ADD.
THE TRANSAXLE NEVER WEARS OUT. THE COPPER MOTOR BRUSHES DO.
THAT'S ANOTHER TRICK FOR ANOTHER NOVICE TO DISCOVER.
SEARS REPLACES ALL DEFECTIVE CRAFSMAN TOOLS FREE
ASK TYE PENNINGTON IF YOU KNOW HIM...
THE WINDOW MOTOR IS IN THE DOOR. NOT UNDER THE HOOD .

You are abviously not a mechanic. You went to the Boyzzz to get the cheapest part you could find and discover that the motors and regulators are riveted from the factory. This is normal. All companies do it. Some cars still use bolts, but most rivet them. How exactly is it Pep Boys' responsibility to know you haven't got a clue when it comes to auto repair. I love you people. You buy a 100 piece tool set from Sears and think you're a mechanical genius. Pep Boys' responsibility ended when they handed you the correct part. Just because you don't know how to remove the original unit and install the new one has nothing to do with the part supplier. Stop pretending to be a wrench and pay a professional to do the job. My windows go up/down just fine. And by the way, the window motor is just that, a motor. The transaxle is a transmission used for front wheel drive cars that contains both the transmission and differential assemblies. Stay out from under the hood please.
