PEP BOYS RIPOFF WORST MECHANICS HORRIBLE SERVICE LIARS! COLUMBIA SOUTH CAROLINA
ALL I CAN SAY IS WOW! PEP BOYS HAS GOT TO BE THE WORST PLACE TO GO TO EVER GET A CAR FIXED. MY WIFE AND I RODE TOGETHER TO PEP BOYS AROUND 6 PM TO GET 2 BRAKE PADS PUT ON. THE PROMISED TIME WAS 8 PM BUT HE SAID WE WOULD MOST LIKELY HAVE IT EARLIER. SO WE WAITED AND WAITED AND WAITED AND WAITED AND WAITED...BEFORE YOU KNOW IT, ITS 9 OCLOCK AND CLOSING TIME. THEY THEN COME IN AND NOTIFIED US THAT THEY HAD DROPPED OUR CALIPER BOLTS DOWN IN THE LIFT AND COULD NOT GET IT OUT, AND THAT THEY NEEDED TO HOLD THE CAR UNTIL 9AM THE NEXT MORNING! I WAS PISSED BUT I KNOW ACCIDENTS HAPPEN...THE MANAGER ON SHIFT THAT NIGHT, DID ATLEAST OFFER TO PAY FOR US A CAB HOME, WHICH I THOUGHT THAT WAS NICE. BUT WHAT PISSED ME OFF THE MOST IS THAT THE NEXT DAY THE CAR STILL WASN'T READY. HOW LONG DOES IT TAKE TO GET A BOLT. SO I CALL UP AND COMPLAIN AND FINALLY!! I GET TOLD THAT THEY HAVE THE PART AND THEY WOULD TAKE 20% OFF THE BILL FOR MY WAIT. AT THIS POINT IM OKAY. WHO DOESN'T WANT TO SAVE MONEY. OKAY SO I GO UP TO PAY AND THEN I GET BAD NEWS...WELL SIR YOUR ROTORS ARE WARPED. I SAID, I HAD ALL THE ROTORS CHECKED LAST NIGHT BY YOU AND YOU SAID THEY WERE FINE. HE THEN SAYS...WELL I JUST NOTICED IT. HOW IN THE H**L CAN YOU INSPECT A CAR WITHOUT NOTICING THINGS LIKE THAT. SO WHAT IN TURN IS HAPPENING IS THEY ARE GETTING THEIR 20% BACK AND ALSO GETTING MORE MONEY OUT OF ME. I AM NOT HAPPY AND I HAD NO CHOICE BUT TO LET THEM DO THE F THINGS BECAUSE MY WIFE HAS TO GET AROUND. CORP. OFFICE IS NO HELP. AS A MATTER FACT, THAT WHOLE SITUATION IS A JOKE. IF YOU ARE IN COLUMBIA, IT IS BETTER TO GO TO A SMALL BUT WELL KNOWN CHAIN..FOR INSTANCE JIFFY LUBE, MIDAS, AND PLACES LIKE THAT. THEY ARE BIG ENOUGH TO STAND BEHIND THEIR WORK BUT THEY ARE NOT GIANTS LIKE PEP BOYS. PEP BOYS IS LIKE THE WAL MART OF THE MECHANICS WORLD. OVER ALL I THINK THE MECHANICS AREN'T VERY SMART...THE PRICES ARE HORRIBLY HIGH....AND THEY ARE MOST UNHELPFUL....I ALSO HAVE TO QUESTION WHETHER OR NOT THEY MAKE THINGS UP JUST TO RACK UP A BILL.....HMMMMMMM....BOY THATS A THOUGHT. IF I DON'T GET A RESPONSE FROM CORP. I AM GOING TO CONTACT CUSTOMER AFFAIRS AND ALSO THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU. I FIGURED I WOULD START HERE, SINCE I HAVE SURFED THIS SITE SO MUCH AND IT IS MUCH MORE EFFECTIVE THAN THE BETTER BUSINESS BUREAU.

I'll tell ya what... These folks are indeed a ripoff. DON'T TAKE YOUR CAR TO PEP BOYS ON DECKER BLVD, UNLESS YOU WANT TO BE SHAFTED! THEY HAVE THE MOST SHODDY WORKMANSHIP! You will end up doing what I had to do, which is take it to a REAL MECHANIC..

I recieved a call today regarding my complaints and the service Manager James called me and told me to bring my car back in and he would make it right. I am supposed to brin it in this weekend. I will update once again once this has really been made right. I do appreciate his help and like I said in my previous listing, he was the one who offered my wife and I the cab ride home and such. He was a nice guy the whole way through. My main problem was the Mechanic who worked on our car. He just acted as if he didn't have a clue. I will let you all know the outcome This weekend when I take the car back in. Thanks for reading and God bless
