Wednesday the 24th of Sept I drove my car into Pep boys in La Mirada to have my brakes checked. The pedal wasn't catching unless I pumped the brakes. One would assume air in the brake line. They charged me 9.99 to have it diagnosed, even though it states right on their sign free brake inspections. They removed all four tires and checked the brakes. The mechanic was unable to pull the right side drum off so he pryed it off with a hammer and a srewdriver. I actually have a video of them removing it with the hammer. He removed the drum and in the process of hammering the drum off the axle, he broke my brake pad.

They disagnosed the car and brought me the quote. 417.00 to fix what they had done. I refused and asked them to replace the tires, I will go somewhere else. The couter guy Carlos got upset because I refused his service and told me he could not release my car, unless I had it towed off thier lot. I asked why should I have it towed, I drove it in I can drive it out. He then informed me I had no back brake, it just fell apart when the drum was removed. I told him it was fine when I drove it in. He then informed me that the fluid contaminated the brake pad, it just disintegrated and fell off the car. It didn't matter that the mechanic was hammering the drum and pryed it off. They actually refused to release my car to me unless I had it towed.

I phoned my older brother and he said to have the car fixed. I sat in the waiting area for 6 hours for them to fix their mistake. I had to pay 407.79; they removed the initial 9.99.

The next day I phoned the service manage Ishmael, he knew they were in the wrong but only offered me 10% off the price of 417.00 and a free oil change. What makes him think I would ever take my car back to them to perform an oil change? So I took the 10% and was going to leave it at that. No one wants to deal with a rip off corporation. Then I notice the front tires wobbling; in their hurry to get me and my car out of the store, they forgot to tighten the front tires. I could not drive my car at all for fear the wheels were going to fall off.

Then friday evening I get a call from a woman stating she found my pepboys paperwork in a plastic pouch in the street. I picked up the paperwork from the woman and it was the technicians copy of my information. Yes, all my personal information was just tossed in the street. The mechanic who drove my car neglected to remove the paperwork from the car and it was thrown in the street.

Monday I called Ishmael once again and informed him of the trouble with the front tires and the back brakes were still unfunctional. I informed him of the mishap with my paperwork. He than told me it was a mistake and he'd find out who worked on my car. I took my car in on Monday the 29th and the store manager John and Ismael both informed me that it really doesn't matter about the paperwork because people lose paperwork all the time. No, they don't; only when they are negligent and have incompetent people working for them it happens. They then informed me that there wasn't anything they could do and it was not as if it were my credit card information. Gave me my keys and walked away.

I was highly upset that they would feel it was nothing for a customers information to be treated this way. My information! I phoned customer relations and haven't heard back from them yet. I doubt I do but will keep it in mind. If a company handles a customers information this way, imagine how they treat your car. apparantly from the many posts they can't fix a car either. I was royally ripped off from this company.

By the way I have video of them hammering into my car. Yes Video; UTube here it comes. The man who brought his car in the same day, was back monday for them to fix what they had done. I also have video of the mechanic hammering a long screw driver up into this guys engine. I guess hammering your engine fixes your car? It supposedly fixed my brakes.

This is the worst company. Are there any honest mechanics working on cars? If anyone wants to see the videos of these keystone mechanics. Email.
Pepboys is a rip off company who doesn't care about customers or their information.

There is alot that should have been done for you, and as a pep boys employee, I feel I should try and help out.

Any time a wheel is left loose on a vehicle, and given to the customer that way, the mechanic that did it should be fired. When your car is worked on in the shop, in order for the job to be finished another technician has to sign off on the paperwork.

If you go into pep boys and file a claim, or call 1800pepboys, and talk to the store manager, after 3 days if they dont solve the problem to your liking the claim will go to the area director, and you will definitely have a way to solve your problem.
