Complaint Review: Periodical & Publication Connection

On 8-21-07 a very personable young man came to my door selling magazines for his "baseball team". He went so far as to ask to use the bathroom although he lived "just down the street"

I was foolish enough to let him do so as I was so taken aback. I bought a subscription to Prevention magazine for $26 with a $14 processing & shipping fee. He told me the magazine would soon arrive although I later read on the receipt it would be 120 days.

I notified the company that day that I wished to cancel the transaction. They stated i could not do this by phone only by mail or telegram. I did not stop payment on the check because it was for $40 & a stop payment would cost me almost that much, making the scam cost close to $100.

Today I checked the company on the internet & found this is a scam & my chances of money recovery are pretty much nonexistent.
