Periodontal Laser Care Center Dr. Jill Hayes Bassett Dr. Jill H. Bassett, DMD Dental Practice Scam for Unneeded Procedures Louisville Kentucky
I was referred to this periodontist in 2015 by my Louisville dentist. The dentist who referred me openly admitted he wasn't sure if Dr. Hayes was a competent periodontist, but gave me the name because of the location in proximity to my office. The events that transpired were as follows:
Dr. Jill Hayes wanted to first know what type of insurance I had, and if I was in a position to pay for costly dental procedures. Red flag #1. I also had to sign an usually long and comprehensive legal waiver to protect the dentist in the event of malpractice. Red flag #2. All of this before she looked at my mouth.
Next, I received a speedy evaluation from the dentist and her assistant in what seemed like a high pressure sales pitch. I was told that I had serious and potentially dangerious gum recession on many of my teeth, almost the entire left side of my mouth. I need gum grafts on 9 of my teeth, according to Hayes DMD and her female assistant. I explained that I had never heard of that and had no pain or symptoms, and asked why I would need such a drastic procedure. I was told repeatedly that I needed the work done that same day or same week or I ran the risk of losing many of my teeth. I could not believe what I was being told.
During the weeks that followed, I discussed with my dentist and he said he was very surprised. I got 2 other opinions from Louisville periodontist and was told that only one of my teeth was an issue. I was not at risk of losing my teeth. I then did extensive research and discovered how painful and damaging these primitive procedures can be on a healthy mouth, and that many others are scammed into similar scare tactics for unneeded dental work. I am posting this message to warn anyone considering gum grafts by this dentist / periodontist to get 2nd and 3rd opinions, and contact the Kentucky Board of Dentistry if you believe you have had unnecessary work done by this dental office or had other problems with this dentist.

I can't say enough great things about Dr. Bassett! She has saved me from dentures thanks to LNAP, who wouldn't be grateful? She is kind and exhibits genuine concern. I have been her patient for nearly 20 years. She is ALWAYS on the cutting edge of the newest, best procedures and is conscientious of making sure you aren't in pain.
My dentist referred me to someone that suggested skin grafts. I went to Dr Bassett who suggested the LNAP procedure. My teeth are in MUCH better shape and I am not at risk of losing them. Thank you to her and her awesome staff!
