Peter Oswendale - Lotsoffersebay@yahoo ebay scam ripoff London United Kingdom
My ebay name is (((REDACTED)))(buyer), Peter Oswendale(seller) told me to messege him away from ebay on his auction page because I was interested in buying a television from him. He then sent me an invoice supposedly by eBay(fake it was a scam) to my email address telling me to pay for item. I paid using western union money transfer on Monday January 29, 2007. The title of auction page was "New Mitsubishi WD-73831 73" 1080p DLP TV & Free Goodies" (I haven't received this yet and he stopped emailing me) I have all the emails he messeged me saved. I don't remember his eBay user id or item # though( here goes one of his auction listings that eBay took down item #160080357854, he took the auction page down somehow as soon as I messeged him.

You will see all of the NEWS reports about these scams. I found out about the advance purchase scam on Dateline NBC (you know the TV news show). There have also been stories on 60 Minutes, etc.
Just because people find out about scams does not mean that they are a scammer. The reports also mention about not using Western Union unless you know the person you are wiring money to because it is most likely a scam.
They have found some of these scammers working in Canada, but since they move quickly and don't use their real names it is probably near impossible for you to get your money back.

"The previous poster was correct, you will never see your money again, and you will never catch the guy" How do you know if this is true or not. You don't know for a fact that I will find him or not or get my money back. You both sound like suspects to me. You both could be Peter Oswendale for all I know. Please explain to me who you both are and how you stumble upon such information.

Reggie... This scam is very common. The mistake you made was not completing this transaction through Ebay. That is why Ebay won't help. They have nothing to do with it. First of all, if anyone contacts you outside of Ebay during or after the auction, IT IS A SCAM. Secondly, anyone that wants you to use Western Union or any other wire service IS A SCAMMER. NEVER use Western Union to purchase ANYTHING. The previous poster was correct, you will never see your money again, and you will never catch the guy. He could be absolutely ANYWHERE in the world.

How ironically your name is Peter also. How do you know he's an advance fee scammer(419)? are you him? If I ever find him he's a dead man.

First I am very sorry you lost your money. Peter Oswendale is an advance fee scammer(419) probably from Nigiria. Google 419 and Nigiria Your money is gone and you will never get it back. There is nothing you can do except warn others about this type of scam.
I'm so sorry for you.

I paid $890.00 for the tv which is about 450 GBP + $68.00 for service charges. I'm currently in the process of getting my money back. Ebay isn't of much help though.
