so i started working at petland about 8 months ago and it didnt take me long to realize that i might need to re-think my decision to work there..

-first off, i have seen employees lie about what a dogs breed is, like, once a customer was looking for something like a cavapoo but all we had were cavachons, so they just lied to the customers to try and get them to buy the puppy.

-after researching a little, it seems that some of the puppies DO come from accused "puppy mills" like from breeder, Becky Franks.

-they have dogs who get thingsa like ring worm, and the course of action to take care of it, is to shove a dog in a "isolation" cage where it away from all other animals and humans, and the ring worm does get treated but i've seen dogs in there for over a month that didnt get played with the WHOLE time, and that also never got bathed at all (and you can imagine how dirty a puppy could get in sunch a small cage)

-they have dogs that get awful diseases like Parvo and usually theyl get the test to make sure thats what they have, and then they just get taken care of by the staff, which, by the way, has no veterinary experience. so i've seen many puppies die without even visiting the vets office to see if they could take care of it.

-they sell dogs who they know have kennel cough, no matter how bad it is.

-if you went into the back, there are dogs who havent been bathed since they came to the store over a month ago.

-go check the freezer.

-the staff likes to come into the back/kennel area and complain about the customers (with an awful use of language)

-they have customers dogs come in sometimes and stay at the store if the puppy is sick, and that whole time, no one plays with the puppy, or bathes it. sometimes the puppy will have pooped then allowed to walk in it for hours before the cage gets cleaned out.

-its a family owned business and anyone in the family gets paid about 10x more than anyone else at the store, which i know is not illegal but its still wrong. especially when some of those members cant/dont perform their jobs correctly...

-i understand that dogs are special, but what puppy is worth more than my $3,400 car?? seriously... thats stupid.

well, i think thats it, i know all of these things because i currently work there (but after doing alot of researching tonight i am quitting tomorrow)
well thanks for your time!!!

#5UPDATE EX-employee responds

Wed, April 06, 2016

The aboves initial accusation was 100% accurate, their staff has no veterinary training, the warranties are bulls***, the dogs are sick and they are from puppy mills. There was so much lying going on there and now, 6 years from the time that that post was posted, the same s*** is still going on and now they've moved to a new location. The Gm there would get pissed at the workers if they didn't sell enough dogs, they don't care about the other animals, just the puppies, he would pull an emotion card saying 'guys if you don't sell more dogs (even while sending 3-6 home a day) these puppies go without families even longer.' I guarantee some manager talked to the poster above an threatened to sue or something if they didn't take down or refute the previous post: just proof of MORE scandalous bulls*** associated with Petland Kennesaw.

I went to Petland's store in Murfreesboro, TN. First of all, no one there was willing to help me. When I asked for help, I was ignored. I then got the attention of an irritated sales person. I saw some pug puppies. I was looking for a pug back then and I noticed that the pugs had were to be purchased on credit and they were around $40 a month. I asked the guy how much would it be to purchase a pug with cash. I was told that it would cost $1500. The local newspapers were selling them for $200-$400 a piece. I thought that this was a total ripoff!. The store incidentally went out of business about a year or so ago.

it seems that i was quick to speak, and slow to listen in my first post, after doing more research, first off, becky franks seems to be a great breeder, her puppies are cute, clean and healthy,

also, petland, kennesaw does have its issues but after talking to them they were completely willing to listen and work on they're problems, so if you have problems with this company, or any other, i would recommend contacting and trying to work with them before just trashing them on some website, because most likely, they will want to work with you and work out they're problems,

well like i said petland and its employees are great and im sure they they're breeders carefully, i would have updated this before but im in the process of a move and my computer has been packed away,

thanks for your time and sorry for any confusion!
