PetPlans' License to steal

I have an 11 year old Jack Russell named Vegas. I don't have a great deal of discretionary income and as such I wanted to create a safety net for my dog. I was solicited by PetPlan insurance through my auto insurance, Esurance via a link on their website.

Around March 2011 I registered online for an annual $469.92 pet insurance policy. I contacted a petplan sales representative and specifically regal confirming the fact that a vet visit was not required to initiate my policy. I thought it strange that I never recieved any correspondence other than a quarterly advertising flyer disguised as a pet magazine called Fetch. Petplan promptly began monthly deductions of 39.16 for my policy. I thought little other than the relief my dog was now covered.

A year later around March 2012 Vegas began demonstrating some disturbing symptoms. I immediately scheduled an appointment with my vet. initial tests and examinations showed no issues and Vegas was referred to a specialist for more tests. We discovered she had Salmonella in her bladder and was very ill. Treatment for this required a several week regiment of 3 daily  forced intravenous drug injections. Fortunately we caught it in time and she has recovered.

My claim which was over a thousand dollars was denied. PetPlan is requesting 2 years of vert records of which I have none. I've been told not only that my claim is denied but in absence of a vet visit within the first month I needed to have proof of an examination in the 12 months prior to the policy activation. I wish I had known that as this policy was never actually valid all the while charging me monthly. If Vegas hadn't become ill how long would they have continued to steal my money.

Attempts at compensation have been met with no success. Luckily my bank, Chase, has been very helpful in blocking further withdraws and even disputing 6/6, 7/6, 8/6 and 9/6 premium deductions. I wish Chace offered pet insurance. I cannot stress enough how truly heartless, greedy and obstinate these thieved really are. If I never see a dime I am at least thankful for the opportunity to warn other would be victims through this format. If i cost them even one prospective client I howl with delight.
