Complaint Review: Philadelphia Cops:

According to Amnesty International, Philadelphia is tied with Pakistan for having the most crooked police department in the world. Philadelphia cops also hold another distinction: they make the most money. Counting salary; overtime bonuses; pension; paid vacations, sick days, and holidays; uniform and equipment allowances; vehicle usage; tax breaks; health and dental insurance; and many other perks; the average annual compensation for Philadelphia police officers is $166,742. That works out to nearly $100 an hour to do nothing more than rob, harass, assault, murder, extort from, perjure against, and otherwise feloniously wrong taxpayers who ironically pay cops for PROTECTION. Of course, the $166,742 does not include the thousands of additional dollars that on average each cop costs the city to settle lawsuits against them. Over 400 Philadelphia police officers have been convicted of crimes just since 1980, which equates to a STAGGERING five percent conviction rate. Nonetheless, most of Philadelphia's criminal cops are immune from being fired, much less arrested, according to a 2004 independent prosecutor's study. Extrapolating from the aforementioned facts, the majority (over half) of Philadelphia's police officers are criminals. Naturally, a cop's definition of a police crime is dramatically different from the legal one. Cops see nothing wrong with robbery, rape, assault, or murder, as long as it is perpetrated by another cop and not an "ordinary" person.
