Philips Electronics USA ripoff, No parts support for product less than two years old New York New York
In July 2004 I purchased a Philips Plasma TV Model # 37FD9954/17 from Sam's Club. In Early November 2005 the set quit working. I contacted Philips and was directed to a local shop that was the authorized repair facility. Because they had a huge backlog they were unable to look at the set until December 13th.
Today I received a call from the technician that the part required to fix it is no longer available and he suggested that I call Philips and see if I could get some action from them that they would not give the tech.
I spoke to Oliver in customer service who told me that the part was not available and would never be available. I responded that I paid almost $4000 for this TV and now Philips was telling me that I was out of luck; he transferred me to Stephanie in customer relations.
Stephanie told me that there was nothing anyone could do because te set is out of warranty. When I asked to speak to her supervisor she said she did not have a supervisor. We went around in a circle of me asking her who she reported to and her saying no one about twenty minutes.
Finally in exasperation I hung up, which I think was her sole purpose in life anyway. (My mistake, I should have put her on speaker and kept going until she hung up on me.)
I don't care that the set is out of warranty, I'm willing to pay for the part; I just want my TV fixed. Essentially Philips has ceased supporting a high dollar device that is less than 18 months old and I have a $4000 door stop.
