I purchased a new 27 inch television which was a Philips brand from Target in April of last year. This television replaced my 24 inch Sanyo that went out after almost 11 years. This week my tv just went out. I called Philips only to find the warranty had "just expired". Regardless of the fact that I had sent in my warrantly card they are asking that I send them a dated receipt of the purchase. Unfortunately, just this past week I went through old papers and trashed many of them. I am a single parent of 2 children and this was my main source of their entertainment. My daughter has Down's syndrome and enjoys watching Nickolodean. My son is 16 and enjoys playing his Playstation games. I am broke and receive no child support and just filed bankruptcy last year and lost my house and car. I am currently staying with a friend. These peopl built this defective television and have offered to see if they can extend the warranty if I find my printed receipt. I have searched for 2 days thinking it may be in a box in my storage room, then went through my purse, then through 2 additional boxes at my house and couldn't find the receipt. It most likely got thrown away last week when I went through old papers. These people are uncaring and don't give a d**n. They build products to "break" just weeks after your warranty expires. They know that most people are busy and life if hectic and know that receipts are hard to find. This is a very shitty company to buy electronics from. Don't ever buy anything from them. Their products are built to make it past a couple days after the warranty expires. A television is somethine you are only supposed to buy every aproximately 10 years. I had a 13 inch also that lasted over 20 years. These people make products that break thinking stupidly that you will return for more of their bad business obviously. I am in the process of writing the president of the company. I would be thoroughly ashamed to work for a company that does this. Thanks for letting me voice my opinion.
