Like many others -- as seen by comments on the Internet -- I've bought a TV from Philips (model 27PT6441/37) that is defective.

What's worse, this defect showed up as early as 2004 -- and I bought my TV in 2007. Philips has known about it since then, and continues to sell TVs with this problem.

The television will not turn on. Period. It's 7 months old to me, though I've since read it can be a refurb without my knowing it -- even more deception.
The company I work for, Cox, out of Atlanta, Ga., will be hearing about this, since it offers a discount for employees for Philips products. I'm going to let them know it's a company that sells defective products and may not want to align itself with them.

We did try to resolve this with a call to Philips: A call to the service center took over an hour -- much of that on HOLD -- just to hear us be told sorry: you'll have to take it to a repair shop and that's that.
We know nothing about this problem.

My story is going international, and shortly, by hand, to my Better Business Bureau, my State Attorney's Office, and my local newspaper, as well as every web site I can find to post to.

It's unconscionable in this day and age, when we are linked around the globe and can compare notes, that this type of chicanery exists. The CEO of Philips will be getting a copy of this letter.

I'm willing to sign it:
