Phillips & Cohen Phillips and Cohen Unlicensed in Minnesota - Ignores Verification Requests and Attempts to Collect Anyway Wilmington Delaware
Phillips and Cohen sent me the standard letter, alleging a debt and stating I can dispute, ask to verify, etc.
I promptly sent them a verification request. then received no response. Yesterday they left a voice message on my cell phone to call them.
I looked them up on-line, and they are not licensed in the State of Minnesota. Complaint filed with the Minnesota Department of Commerce.
Now I will file another complaint. Prohibited practices under the FDCPA are also illegal in Minnesota, and that includes continued collection activity after a verification request, and false and deceptive statements (i.e. licensing).

Finally got "validation" today from Phillips and Cohen. They sent me six months of statements and none of the other documentation I asked for, like contract, assignment, etc.. I reviewed the statements, and I don't owe them anything!
I sent them a letter back listing violations of the FDCPA and Minnesota law. I offered to settle for $1,000 to me, removal of all derogatory information to credit bureaus, no 1099-C to the IRS, and needless to say not selling the debt again.
