In the last few months, I started having issues with my generator in my 2018 Coachman. The RV dealership where I purchased my RV had gone out of business and never sent follow up on my initial purchase for an extended warranty that I paid $4000 for so I dug through paperwork in storage and finally found enough info to contact the Warranty Company.

The warranty is through Phoenix American Warranty Company in Miami, Florida. I had already spent $800 dollars in repairing the generator and the day before going to a remote area in the desert where the temps would near 100 degrees F, the generator failed all together and replacement was $3700. I had to replace the generator but had ONAN retain the generator that failed so I could follow up with the company once I found the paperwork.

I called them after my return from the trip and they said the service company would need to follow up with them to get a claim number. Then after speaking to ONAN, the company said they were going to reimburse since my warranty was for 7 years. Then they went silent for about 48 hours. Now they said they are denying my claim since I replaced the generator.

I explained I do not need reimbursed for the replacement, but I would like a claim opened and the generator looked at for replacement as it is still in tact and sitting at ONAN for them to look at. Phoenixx\ American said since I replaced the generator, they will not process it now. I am happy to put the old generator in so they can come look at it.

I have looked through several reviews now online and it looks like this company runs a scam. I asked for the remainder of my warranty to be reimbursed and they said I would need to contact the (bankrupt/closed) dealership who sold me the warranty. With that said, if you are considering purchasing an extended warranty through this company...you will want to look elsewhere.

Read up on the reviews first and save your money for a more reputable company. If I get a satisfactory/fair resolution, I will update this review but I am thinking that is not going to happen. If there is an attorney doing class action against this company...feel free to reach out to me. DO NOT DO BUSINESS WITH PHOENIX AMERICAN WARRANTY COMPANY!!
