Chicago based Phoenix Media Corp is back from their old identity aka Schofield Media aka Business Media Publications. These people are up to their same old tricks calling companies bilking them for advertising in magazines that are 100% fake. This company uses false subscriber numbers and trumped up statistics to rely on "duping" small & medium business owners.

As usual, they go after business's usually mom&pop business's because these small business's do not have pr departments or advertising agencies.  This is the same company doing the same thing using a new name so they can sell more ads. If you do just a small amount of digging on this company you will and should refuse to do any business with them.

here are some of the names they use:

Schofield Media
Business Media Publications
Mayfair Business Media
SMG Media
BMP Media
Redcoat Publishing
Construction Today Magazine
American Executive
Retail Merchandiser
Energy Today
Energy & Infrastructure Magazine
Education Executive Magazine
B&C Canada Magazine
Building & Construction Canada

Avoid Phoenix Media Corp

I am so glad I found this post.  I was able to use this report and the other reports regarding Schofield Media / Business Media Publications to fight a bad contract/deal.  I was told that our company would be listed in the article with the featured company so I ran a half page ad.  When the issue printed - needless to say our company was not listed in the article.  I was told ' You misunderstood what the sales person said - it is an 'edit mention' in a side bar'.  Which just means your ad is placed next to the article.  I fought this fine line for months because they directly lied to me.  Once I found this article and others I simply printed them off and sent them in with our invoice.  We settled for 25% of the original invoice after that which I consider generous because of the deception.

Beware the high pressure selling tactics - we gave in and it was a total waste of time.  The numbers the sales guy quoted for readership are not accurate and they could not provide a BPA statement for any magazine title.  They would not produce any type of website stats either.

If you do purchase an ad - and are told anything about being in the article - get that part written on the contract - do not accept 'edit mention' phrase.

My advice - Avoid Phoenix media Corp.  Your money is better spent elsewhere.
