We purchased a Nikon Coolpix 5000 digital camera from Photoking Camera 03/13/02. We received the camera without warranty card and a photocopied manual. The invoice from Photoking however stated "1. This invoice valid for all manufacturer's warranties".

The camera failed after less than a half dozen uses. Nikon Inc. refused to repair it, saying that it is "grey market". Nikon did confirm that their manufacturer's warranty for this camera is one year.

After some argument, Photoking agreed to repair the camera by sending it abroad, which would take 4 months and issued a return authorization. After more than 4 months and several phone calls, we received the camera back in the same condition that it was 4 months earlier. They had done nothing to get it repaired.

Again they agreed to repair it and we sent it back. After three weeks and many more interminable phone calls we were informed that the camera was repaired, but the repair would cost $130. Note that their invoice stated that the camera was covered by the manufacturer's warranty.

This is now one year later. Photoking has not returned the camera, they have not refunded, and now they do not answer their phone at all.
