Complaint Review: PICASSO CHIHUAHUAS

I own two dogs from Picasso Chihuahuas, purchased about a year apart. The dogs are fantastic. The breeders were very interested in the future living conditions for the dogs. I have stayed in touch with them in the three years since the purchase. They are happy to receive updates and very obviously love their dogs and think of them as their kids.

Everything in the subject report is contrary to what have I seen with my own eyes. The breeders are VERY concerned with their dogs and breed high quality animals. While I cannot comment on the number of puppies they have a year, I can say with confidence that it is not a puppy farm. Bear in mind that chihuahuas have very small litters, so it would seem logical that between the low birth rate and the number they show it is completely consistent with my own personal knowledge that they don't have a bunch of dogs available for sale. In recent years (I am thinking of buying one more), I have noticed that there are more dogs available.

Accusing these people of killing their dogs is insane.

If you are thinking of buying a chihuahua I could not recommend this breeder highly enough. Her dogs are ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING.

"I knew of 2 families that had bought puppies from Picasso Chihuahuas.  One of the families had a great experience buying their first dog and purchased another puppy from Picasso.  Unfortunately, they do not have any available puppies at this time and I'm upset."

Here's a break down of their claim:

"Lots of stuff on website to trick the buyer to think she is a good breeder."

- Without examples your comment means nothing.


"OH MY GOD HOW DECEITFUL CAN YOU GET.Unless she thinks it is okay to cull bad quality pups."

- This comment questions the authenticity of the poster.


"Says she only has a few puppies a few times a year. HAHAHA I know two families who have show dogs from her and one of the families had another one from PICASSO CHIHUAHUAS that died from a brain disease."

- You mention that 2 people you know bought puppies from Picasso Chihuahuas.  One of the families had a great experience buying their first dog and purchased another puppy from Picasso.  I'm sorry to hear that one of the dogs had died of natural causes.

"I WAS BEEN TOLD KARIN DAEHN andCHERYL DAEHN KILL THE PET QUALITY PUPPIES and lots of show people do that. HOW SAD AND SICK. Someone that worked in the yard went to a forum and says she drowns them when she can see they ain't good quality. Said KARIN calls it CULLING. Is this why she don't have so many now? She had lots of the puppies last year."

- This comment did not provide any first hand facts or examples from the poster.  The only valid statement that I can gather from this paragraph is that Picasso Chihuahuas had puppies available last year.

I live in Edmonton, Alberta, the city where Picasso Kennels is located. I also own a Chihuahua although it was not breed by Karin and her mother. I have gotten to know Karin very well over the past year or so. I have shown dogs with her at CKC shows. My chihuahau has experienced some health problems and Karin has been one of the best support networks that can be imagined. She is a caring, thoughtful and very responsible Breeder. She is well respected and sells her puppies internationally. On her site you will find puppies that are listed as both show potential as well as pet quality. If she was culling the pet quality puppies why would she be advertising them on-line? That makes no sense at all. Karin is a person who truly loves her dogs and they live in her home with her and her mother. Sometimes people are thoughtless when they write things that they know nothing about at all. I would encourage anyone who is looking for a chihuahua to visit Karin's home and see the wonderful and happy environment her dogs enjoy. Her website accurately describes the quality, temperament and health of all of the dogs that she owns.

I own several dogs from Picasso, so I am speaking from 1st hand experience, I also know these people and they DO NOT do what they are being accused of. They are extremely ethical, breed healthy happy chihuahuas that are in great demand Worldwide. Sounds like Sour Grapes, Galt, California!! You are so full of hatred it has clouded your reasoning. Don't know where you get your info, but you obviously have never met nor done business with them, so how is it you know what they do with their pups?? YOU DON'T!! No need to spread nasty rumors, no one is paying attention to you, a NOBODY!! You should be so lucky as to own one their dogs, but they don't sell to nutcases.
