The Pierogi Factory offers the biggest ripoff that I have ever encountered at any restauarant. I love genuine Polish food and have eaten it at several restaurants in Philadelphia, but not at The Pierogi Factory. These people are total amateurs who have no clue about how to make authentic ethnic food, despite their fraudulent representations to the contrary. The Pierogi Factory sells amatuerishly prepared, imitation, watered-down Polish food made with the cheapest possible ingredients. Their actual pierogi, which you would think would be their specialty judging by their company's name, are no better than the flavorless slop that you can get out of a box of Totino's pizza rolls. All of The Pierogi Factory's pierogi that we tried, including their mushroom, potato, spinach, and Ukranian versions, tasted about the same. That fact alone suggests that none of the ingredients were freshly made and all of them were pre-cooked (aka leftovers), frozen, and/or from cans. The Pierogi Factory's pierogi weren't even as good as the "food" served at the cheapest street vendors or fast-food restaurants. The Pierogi Factory's kielbasa and golbaki tasted more like a one dollar fast-food burger, made from the typical cheap, frozen, lifeless hamburger meat. Their potato pancakes and blintzes were more like a stale, half-grease, half-flour concoction. The bottom line is that The Pierogi Factory misrepresents their overpriced wannabe slop as being the real deal. If you enjoy buying low-grade, 99-cent TV dinners that are represented and priced as high-grade ethnic food, The Pierogi Factory is for you! I suspect that most if not all of the rave reviews for The Pierogi factory are fake, but I can't prove it. I don't have to prove it because The Pierogi Factory's horrible food is all of the proof that is needed.

Here is another review from a real customer posted at a major website:

"Truly the worst Polish food in Philly and possibly the world. Some of it was burnt, some undercooked. All of it was virtually flavorless, stale, slimy, greasy, spoiled and/or downright disgusting. We tried the potato pancakes, golabki, kielbasa, pierogis, and a few other things. Nothing was fresh or decent tasting. Some of the "food" looked more like vomit. These people are total amateurs. They were friendly but slow and incompetent. For the high prices you would think that the food would be much better. We believe that the good reviews were written by the owner. Save yourself the disappointment and heartburn; go anywhere but here, even a garbage dump."

I lived in Poland for two years as a guest professor and lived on Polish food. I love classic simple Polish food (like the food items sold at the Pierogi Factory) and was taught by friends how to cook it and how to be choosy in bars and restaurants. The food at the Peirogi Factory matches my memories and expectations of Polish food at its friendliest and tastiest.

I love talking Polish with the staff at the counter and observing how hard working they are and how eager they are to please their clientele, constantly asking, "Did you like it" to which I give my thank you in Polish, "Dziękuję' and promise to come again soon. My husband, Steve, is always asking to go back to the Peirogi Factory for lunch.

The following review was posted at two different websites, and if anything was too kind to The Pierogi Factory:

"Tonight we had takeout from The Pierogi Factory. Driving by on Bustleton Ave, I kept thinking about how great it would be to have amazing Polish food in Northeast Philly.

We ordered a bunch of the Potato and Cheese, Ukrainian, Cheese steak pierogis, Golabki, Kielbasa and Potato Pancakes.

Let me first say that I am 1/2 Polish and I've been eating Polish food since I was a baby. My family would make all the standard foods every Easter, Christmas, etc, so I know what good polish food is.  This is a far cry from good polish food.

Pierogi Factory - more like Pierogi Unsatisfactory. Let me provide the specifics.

The Kielbasa was overly crisp and flavorless. You can pay $8 and go to Krakus or Czerwas in Port Richmond and get more kielbasa and have a better experience cooking at home.

Golabki tastes terrible. I am not sure which animal they got the meat from, but it didn't taste like beef, pork or veal. The tomato sauce was not good and came in a side container.

I was really excited to try the pierogis, because what person would name their business "Pierogi Factory" unless there pierogis were out of this world. We tried the Ukrainian, Cheese Steak and Potato and Cheese pierogis. The Ukrainian pierogis were not that bad. They could use a little more sauerkraut. The Potato and Cheese had ricotta and farmers cheese. If I wanted a ravioli I would have went to P&S. The Cheese Steak pierogis were all hype and tasted like a sub-par cheese steak. If I wanted a sub-par cheese steak I would go to Wit or Without.

The Potato Pancakes were saturated in grease. I love potato pancakes and drive to a festival in Doylestown every September to get the best of the best. Good potato pancakes are crispy on the outside, soft on the inside and come with sour cream or apple sauce. The Pierogi Factory's Potato Pancakes were none of that. They only offer sour cream and were wet dripping with grease.

At the end of the day my recommendation would be to not spend your cabbage at the Pierogi Factory.

After all of this, I wish the grease from the potato pancakes would make my heart fail so I would stop feeling disappointment."
