Complaint Review: Pimsleur Approach

 They advertise extensively on the Internet.  You go to their website and they tell you what a remarkable system they have for learning a foreign language.  They send you a starter CD for a small price.  Probably somewhere they tell you what the real deal is, but it's not obvious. 

Here's the deal.  They send you a big box every 60 days.  The charge for each big box is four monthly payments of $68.80 charged automatically to your credit card.  That's $275.20 per big box!

I don't know whether or not their system works; I haven't opened the boxes.  I saw a charge of $68.80 on my credit card statement and figured maybe the big box is worth $68.80.  Maybe some day, I'll get around to seeing if it works.  I received another box and stuck it in the closet with the first one.  I thought I should probably call them an cancel any further shipments, but I didn't get around to it.

I got my credit card statement and there were two $68.80 charges.  I thought I had been billed twice for the second big box; that motivated my to call them.  The man on the phone told me what the real deal was.  After I told him what I thought of the deal, him and his company, he put me on hold.  He said that he would be sending me some return labels and I would get my money back.

I think they are making it right, but make sure you know what the real deal is before you get sucked in.
