I received a letter from Pimsleur today with an invoice in the amount of $512.00.
Here is what the letter said:

We have made several attempts to contact you! The credit card you provided @ the time of the order isn't working and the date to return your order has long passed. When you ordered our products you promised to pay. We shipped your course and trusted you to honor that commitment. Right now, you still owe us $512.00

Warning: Bad credit is expensive and will hurt your lifestyle. Please do the right thing and send us $512.00 by April 30,2012. If your check is not here by then, we reserve the right to exercise our legal rights, which may include sending your account to an outside collection agency.

 You have 3 options:
1. Write a check
2 Pay with valid credit card
3Call our Billing Dept.

Here comes the best part: We're all in this recession together. As Americans, we can help by honoring our commitments and paying what we owe on time. Thanks in advance for doing your part.

I did buy a Introductory French from Pimsleur on 11/4/2011. I paid it with my prepaid visa. I never give out my real info to those types of companies. Since I paid them 9.95 I never thought anything else about it.

I received a second collection 1/24/12 the bill stated 0.00 Free/Trial on the invoice. It did not state anything about a payment or when a trial was up. Put it away forgot about it.  Then I got this letter today! And I called the Billing Dept;

Needless to say that did not go over well. They stated they attempted to contact me I asked when? She states : 1/24 & 2/1 by email Those are the only times that she has them attempting to contact me. She could not find any letters or times in which they attempted to contact me by phone.

I checked my emails with her on the line: DID not receive any emails and told her so  she states she can not tell if I may have deleted them.  She also states it is already in their collections dept. I ask when this happened?

She stated 1/24. I state the same day as you sent me the second set of instructions?
I then ask to speak with a manager.  She tells me that we are out of my trial period and I cannot send this back she tells me that I cannot speak to a manager as their are only 2 on the floor both of which are handling calls and that I cannot hold for them or get their names extensions or initials.

I cannot leave my number for them to call me. Now is not a good time because they close @ 7pm ET and it was 530pm!

She stated my only recourse at this point is to pay them their money and I cannot send them the instructions back even if they were not opened. I can call Kathy Heart Billing Administrator (the person who signed the letter).
But she doesn't know her hours or what days she works.

On this invoice rcv'd by the way it shows a zero payment amt and never ever, ever, ever,  did it mention anything about a payment in the amt of $512.00!!! We are all in this recession together??? Really???

By threatening me with sending my information to a collection agency and trying to STRONG ARM me into making payments on something I never agreed to,.. this is how you make Americans feel that your company has Americas best interest @ heart??? BALDERDASH!!! AND By the way, They never contacted me!!!! They waited till the free trial membership was up then , instead of calling me they send me a threatening letter???

You Trusted me??? Honor?? Commitment??? How about these words Pimsleur ,.. LIES!!! DECEIT!!! And Straight up dishonesty!!!!
