we hired Piper moving and storage a division of mayflower to move my family locally this past march. To put it bluntly it was a move from hell. to make a long ugly day short let me describe the most troubling event. The mover was to bring four "wardrobe boxes" to move the clothes. The mover informed me the day of the move that he only had one wardrobe and basicly said we (my friends and myself) were on our own to move the clothes. It took 3 of us and an other friends pickup and 3 suv's to move the clothes-when we finally arrived at my new home the movers were sitting in my new garage drinking pop waiting for me to pay them--at this time the lead mover informed me that I owed just under 1100.00 instead of the agreed amount of 850.00 because the movers waited for me and were now on overtime. do to the situation and fatigue i paid the 1100.00--the following week i began calling the company to complain -- each time i talked to a different person who sympathized with me and promised to get a monatary solution to the problem and "get right back". I called at least 5 times since march and they finally got back to me this past week. they informed me I requested insurance i didn't realize i signed for and at the same time stated i was "to late" to file a claim regarding damage to a chair and gave me a check for 98.?? for the hour the crew sat in my garage.

This is a very unorganized company that changed their story every time a call was made to cover their back. all the contact i had with this company no mention was made to insurance or i would have filed for my torn m"lazy boy". moving is very stressful and this company is the last thing you need to deal with -- i would suggest a Uhaul over this company.

Applicable Transportation Charges- The charges a mover assesses for its services must be contained in a published tariff and the tariff must be made available to prospective shippers upon request. A carrier cannot assess a rate lawfully that is not contained in its tariff. If you feel that the mover has overcharged you, you can me toll free at (866) 254-1792 to obtain assistance with requesting a review of the charges assessed by the mover, and which were paid by you at the time of delivery of your shipment.
