We have found from our own experience, this website and other sources that Pivotal Payments uses this method of operation :

1. first contact - dangle the bait - low rates for your interac machine - unbeatable deal

2. set the hook- attractive professional hardcopy information and follow-up sales pitches - frenzied and full of hype

3. reel 'em in - send a 16 pager faxed agreement while pushing a time limit so that you sign without reading the full agreement - the "trust" stage with your sales person has been reached and the sales pitch is quite overwhelming

4. signed, sealed, delivered

5. send new machine - no follow up - all systems go!- you're on your own now

6. first statement - ???? - what are all these extra charges and descriptions? - wellllll!- didn't you read your contract : the small print! - we can do pretty well anything we want ! - sure, check with your lawyer (you're screwed) - check with your salesperson?-who was it? - he/she is not available-- they don't do customer service - we didn't tell you any of this stuff? - well, can't you read?- we can sell your firstborn if we want to- so just be quiet and pay up!

7. two years later - you've had enough of us bleeding you dry? - sure you can get out - we told you the penalties when you first complained , right? - yes - $500 for each machine and $260 for each account and $15 a month until we process this in a year or so and, oh yes, another $35 per letter in your last name because it's a non-leap year.

Yes! and we are not alone apparently - how many thousands of businesses have they done this to in the U.S and Canada? - untold

So- we wrote a report to the Better Business Bureau in our Region (and amazingly got a much better settlement offer from our "new best friend" at Pivotal just a day later!) and also we have written to our Provincial Attorney General and now this wonderful website and we see a light at the end of the tunnel! We feel responsible as good citizens to make others aware of the scammy behaviour of this corporate bully. Thank you for your concerns!
