Complaint Review: Pixelfish

Pixelfish Cameron Hassman & Andy Glickman (producers) Pixelfish do not pay the invoices of their freelance vendors. SCAM! Torrance, CA Nationwide

I was contacted by Pixelfish to do a one day video production shoot. I spoke to both of the producers (Andy Glickman & Cameron Hassman) via phone, and they sounded legitamate so I did not push for a 50% deposit as I usually do. They told me that payment was 60 days net, which is a bit longer than most clients....but not a problem.

I hired on my usual crew and completed the shoot & mailed them the footage along with my invoice. Radio silence from them after the 60 days net period was up. I finally get a message from the account payables department saying they cannot find my invoice. I resubmit, and then nothing for weeks. Finally "payment has been sent out" but a week later, no check in the mail.

I would STRONGLY advise that no freelance video production contractors take on any business with Pixelfish without taking a 50% deposit on the job up front. After googling them I have found several comments from unpaid contractors (though they are from 2008/2009). So it appears that this is nothing new. Proceed with caution....

FINALLY PAID

Update: I was finally paid as of 1/27/15, after my invoice was submitted 9/16/14 (and due 60 days after that). on 12/1/14 I gave them a reminder email, and it took nearly two months for them to finally cut me a check.

Perhaps they are just extremely unorganized, and not trying to ripoff vendors as all the reports from 2008/2009. But regardless there is no reason why my invoice should not have been paid quicker.

I don't mind giving loans, but they should start paying some vig to all of their vendors.
