Owner of the company was unbelivelably rude, February 20th 2010. I was shopping with my two sons, beginning of Spring, looking for some good deals on baseball equipment. I happen to coach a youth baseball team. While looking at the bat section, another gentlement walked in and was interested in buying some practice baseballs. I politely asked him what he was needing them for, he explained that he too was a b-ball coach in a neigboring city, this was his first year to coach. I gave him the advice of, I would go to ACADEMY SPORTS to buy practice balls, you can pick them up for around 1.00 each vs. the 2.00 Play It again was charging. I told him that over the course of the season the kids will lose the balls or take them home or whatever, either way, I wouldnt spend too much money on practice balls. He nodded and thanked me for the sound advice.

Within a minute of me speaking with this coach, a guy from behind the counter (30 feet away from where we are standing) comes running to me, yelling that I should not tell his customers to go somewhere else for a better price. That I was taking buisness away from him and money out of his pocket. Shocked at this point, i stated, are you kidding me buddy? The guy coaches a little leauge team, so do I, what's wrong with giving him some good advice on how to save a few dollars. The employee again yelled and told me that I should go to the parking lot if I wanted to give advice to his customers. Being that my two young kids were with me, I obviously took the high road and left the store. Please do not ever SHOP at this store, I know Play It Again Sports lost at least one customer for life, and I suspect at least one more would be the other coach I was speaking with. It's obvious that this store owner cares more about his pocket book then trying to help out the community and it's youth.

A ripoff (or rip-off) is a bad financial transaction. Usually it refers to an incident in which a person overpays for something. (wikipedia)

First of all that was not the owner i am and i have a serious problem with someone telling customers in my store to go shop somewhere else.  i have children to support with my business and if you are going to come into my store and try and take food out of my children's mouth then i do not need nor want you as a customer. this store has been here 15 years during that time we have serviced over 75,000 customers and have donated over $15,000 in cash and sporting goods to local leagues and under privileged children.  the customer in the store at the time had been and still is a loyal customer and knows the difference between a vinyl ball for $1.00 and a leather ball for $2.00 so he made a conscience decision to spend more for a better product.

i have never heard of this website till now but i have read about the elderly being bilked out their social security checks, that is a ripoff.  this is hardly the platform for this kind of complaint. this guy disrespected my store tried to take food out our children's mouth, and was asked to leave.  the manager at academy sports is a customer at our store and ironically i was at his house delivering the elliptical he purchased from us when this episode took place and he said he would have done the same thing. i have read his complaint several times and have yet to see where he was monetarily taken advantage of.  where is the ripoff???
