On 12/28/03 My husband made a large purchase at Play It Again Sports store in Oceanside, CA. This store sells new and used sporting equipment. He spent $600.80 on snow board equipment. When he came home and I realized we had a coupon from their store for $25.00 off a purchase. I figured that it was a reputable store so I took my receipt in the store and spoke with the manager,Kyle Schetgen &we had just spent $600.80 and would like him to honor the discount. At first Kyle stated he couldn't "credit" back $25.00 to our credit card but would give us a $25.00 store credit. We agreed that would be fair.

My husband and I looked around the store to find something to buy, but he had bought all his equipment the day he made the large purchase. We then asked the Kyle if we can take the store credit and use it another time. Kyle asked to see my receipt and then stated that we got "many" discounts already on our purchase and that would have exceeded the $25.00 off coupon and then stated he WOULD NOT give us a store credit. According to my receipt the only "discount" I got was %15 off a $2.99 item. What bad practice to offer a customer
a store credit and then take it back! What a way to treat a customer who spent$600.80 in a sporting goods store!
I spoke with the manager who claimed he owned the Oceanside location and he refused to make this right. He then proceeded to state that he didn't have to honor the store coupons at all. I was baffled.

I called later that day to give them an opportunity to make this right and Kyle said we already got a "great deal" and "whatta you want me to do about it?" attitude. We have since moved from Souther California so we no longer have any use for a store credit, not that I would ever spend a dime in that store ever again.
I will never shop at that store again and will tell all my friends and family and anyone else to not go there as they obviously do not know how to treat customers, honor coupons and give and then take "store credits".
Kyle Schetagn is the owner of this franchise store and stated he did not care who I told regarding this.
What great customer service, eh?
