Play it Again Sports We don't automatically send out payment Missoula, Montana
Consigned some fitness equipment at the beginning of June, 2011. Made myself a note to call Play it Again Sports (PIAS) about a month later (called mid-July) to check status of consignment. Employee said the equipment had sold on July 1 and payment would be sent out. Wrote down name, date and time I called. Left myself another reminder to call if payment was not received in reasonable time.
August 2, still no check received. Called them again, talked to different employee. Told him whom I talked to, when item sold and what they owed me. Was told they don't automatically send out payment and there may have been some mis-communication. WTF? How does that work? They got their consignment fee (50%) but they don't send me my split? I said maybe I mis-understood when I called previously.
Made arrangements for check to be sent to me since I live in another town that doesn't have a PIAS. Would cost me more in gas to go pick up the check than the actual payment. Stay tuned....
Read a post from a consignor in North Dakota that had very similar experience at a different PIAS. Hopefully this doesn't turn into a big PIA.

Done deal Well readers, I got the check, it has a stamped signature on it so we'll see if the banks honors it. All in all it was a learning experience. For those of you considering a consignment in the future, set up the payment details, etc, in advance. Don't just assume that you will automatically get efficient service.
