Do not buy from Lynda White's company: Pleasant Valley Kennels

I recently bought an AKC Shih Tzu from a woman named Tamara. "Miss Tess" is a year old, and was purchased by Tamara from Pleasant Valley Kennels for $1200. (She was $1200 because Lynda told Tamara that she was an "Imperial" and would weigh no more than 6 pounds. She now weighs over 10lbs, by the way).

When Tamara bought Miss Tess, Lynda told her she would have full breeding rights (which I have proof of, in emails), but when the papers were sent to Tamara, she noticed the little box that says "limited" was checked off. Tamara calls the breeder and notifies her of the mistake. The breeder then says she has to send $25 to get this mistake corrected. Tamara sends her the money, and but never hears from Lynda again. Months go by, and Lynda doesn't respond, so Tamara gives up on getting the right papers.

Right about when Miss Tess is about to turn a year old, Tamara has to move out of her apartment, so she puts an ad in the paper, and that's where I come in.

Tamara and I discuss breeding rights for a little while, because I was considering breeding her, so now Tamara knows she needs to get the right papers, that say I'm allowed to.

Tamara calls the breeder, asking her once again, if she could get the papers. The breeder is EXTREMELY rude to her, and says she doesn't have time for this, and besides, she lost that file. As a breeder, you are required to keep records of all your dogs for 5 years, so we know she couldn't have lost them, and she just didn't want to deal with us. Tamara writes her an email, saying she has to keep records of it, and she needs to help us, or she'll call the AKC and ask them what to do.

She writes back, throwing out a ton of personal insults, then finishing off by saying she was just about to call us with the great news, until she read the email. Then says, "I told you I'd lost some files, but guess what not yours". "I am not going to help you get the papers for your pup, as you need my help to do so."

After this, I write to her, explaining my situation. I told her I want the papers, and if she doesn't want to help Tamara, if she could please help me out. She writes back telling me I'm just trying to cause problems for her, and we're threatening her, and she's not giving the papers to Tamara, or me.

A few more emails go by, and she just keeps getting ruder and ruder. In our most recent one, she askes me if I'm a breeder. When I say no, she says "then you don't need the papers they're only good for breed/show. no papers til spay/neuter from vet." How does she think she has the right to be telling me this? The dog was bought with full registration, so if I ever decide to breed her, she doesn't have a say in it. She is just being controlling and spiteful.

I called the AKC, and they said I needed to call the Department of Agriculture in Georgia, and possibly bring her to court, because she has no right to be doing this, but the AKC doesn't regulate that stuff.

Lynda has a habit of blocking any number that she doesn't want to hear from. So not only did she block my house phone the very first night Tamara called to ask for the papers, but she then blocked my cell number when I called her once to try to talk to her myself, so I called her from another phone, and left her a message saying I have aquired the paperwork necessary to file a suite against her, but I did not want to resort to that, and left a number for her to call me at.

I am writing this after talking to her earlier today. She screamed at me, saying I have no right to do this, and she was going to come to me, and "drag my a*s to court for harassment." The only thing she could do was yell at me about how stupid I was, and how I was harassing her, and that was illegal. Not once did I raise my voice, and when she interrupted me, I stopped talking to let her finish her rant.

Every time I would say something, she would cut me off, and tell me I was causing problems for her, and she was going to help me out until I called the state. She also kept accusing me of lying. Every time I would say something, like when I told her I called the Department of Agriculture because the AKC told me I should, she said "Uh huh, yeah right" and yelled some more. She screamed "Don't call me again!", then hung up.

I have just turned 19 years old, and this is the first dog I've ever owned. When I got off the phone with her, I was in tears. I can't handle it when people yell at me. Plus, I've been so stressed, having to deal with this unecessary situation. I am considering having a litter of puppies, but that point aside, the fact is I bought her with open registration, and she will not give it to me, just because she feels like being spiteful and controlling. Plus, in her mind, she's the victim.

I have not even described how much my feelings have been hurt by this. I just can't understand why she is acting like this. It's really quite childish, I think.

I do not like to cause trouble, and I HATE confrontation, but I just wanted a few people to know about this. Buying something like an animal from the internet is a risky thing. You don't know the breeder, if the animals are healthy, or what their facilities look like. And chances are, they're far away, so they feel safe about ripping you off.

Anyone who's reading this: DON'T BUY FROM LYNDA WHITE AT PLEASANT VALLEY KENNELS. I don't know what her motive is to being so completely rude to me, but chances are, she'll do it to you too.

The $25 was paid to open the registration, I being a dog owner and in the past a small breeder, believe the customer is always right, or at least they are right after I have told them I would do something. It is so much easier to just complete the open registration since these people, Tamara and Angela are not a threat to your business. Ms. Lynda has been paid the $25 to open the registration, therefore she should do so. If I pay $800 or $1200 for a puppy I would also expect breeding rights, and especially if I was told to send the money to do so. After sending the money, I would expect the open registration to be completed. It is irrelevant that the puppy is being re-sold, and at this point irrelevant that paperwork may prove that there were no breeding rights. What is relevant is that the Lynda received the payment of $25 from the original owner and agreed to open the registration, PERIOD.

PS - Anyone writing on this can upload pictures and anyone can doctor documents, just my opinion.

My name is Angi Warner and I bought a Shih Tzu from Lynda White Pleasant Valley Kennel in Molena, GA in 2002. Forgive me, but I don't recall where I obtained her info. Nevertheless, my sister in law and I made the drive to Molena, and was met by a very friendly man who told us Lynda would be right with us. Even invited us into the home to wait. Lynda and I had spoken by phone a few times and it was my intent was to just look at the puppy. Lynda brought the puppy to me and it was love at first sight. Lynda seemed to be extremely knowledge about the breed. She showed us all of her paperwork along with many other pieces of information that assured me that she had a true love for ask of her dogs and was particular about who she even showed them to. Lynda was a very kind, person. She even showed us her kitchen she was having remodeled. There was no hint of pushiness, and I was told everything upfront. After spending that time with the puppy now known as Murphy, there was no doubt in my mind, he belonged with me. Lynda told me that I could not breed him and sell the puppies as registered AKC pups. She has every right to do that, and made sure I understood what her policy was. I would highly recommend Lynda to anyone wishing to purchase a puppy to love and cherish. Everyone loves Murphy and Murphy loves you right back. Please don't let the previous complainers deter you from making the purchase of a 4 legged family member. Murphy has not had any congenital health issues whatsoever, unless you call being a notorious sleepyhead an issue. I hope you will take the time to give Lynda a fair chance and let her sell you a bundle of happiness!

I am so angry that people have the nerve to slander such a wonderful family. I am currently purchasing a SECOND puppy from Lynda. I have NOT A SINGLE bad thing to say, AND that her dogs are worth every penny you spend. I have had Bailey for 3 years and never had a problem with him, in any means. Whoever wrote this horrible thing about Lynda, is a very jealous person, with nothing else better to do with her life. I am so excited to get my second puppy shipped to me next month. He is a perfect little puppy, as are ALL her dogs! She is NOT a puppy mill! She is a private breeder, who is very concerned about who adopts her babies.

I am telling anyone.....whoever reads this.....If you are looking for a Shih-Tzu, go to Lynda. Size shouldn't matter, nor should you be concerned about breeding or showing. What is most important, is the quality and the bloodline, and Lynda has HANDS-DOWN, the best dogs for the money. She is the place to go! I will ALWAYS buy my dogs from her, and have had nothing BUT Shih Tzu's, my entire life. My best one so far is Bailey, from Lynda. I will always go to Lynda for my dogs.

So before you slander her, think first, because myself, and many others, will back Lynda up. If you want the best Shih Tzu, you must pay. Bailey is perfectly healthy, and walks 2-4 miles a day, pulling me and my daughter thru the park. He walks like a show dog and he knows how perfect he is, when everyone stops me to ask where I got him. I have yet to find a Shih Tzu, as perfect as Lynda's Shih Tzu. She truely lives up to her "Best In Show" status.

Breeding and showing means nothing to me. What matters is his health, and his personality, and Bailey is a very smart dog who obeys every command. He is just too perfect.....And my next will be too....I paid Lynda IN FULL, up front and I get the baby next month. ANYONE who pays over 1,200 up front, should tell anyone who reads this, that she's worth going to. Forget payments. I trust Lynda %120!

A Positive Reference for Lynda White

I purchased a beautiful puppy from Lynda White in October of 2006. After months of searching the internet for a shih tzu, I decided to try Pleasant Valley Kennels. The puppy I wanted was featured of the website as "Gorgeous Puppy of the Week". It was 11 p.m and I couldn't wait until the next day to call. Lynda picked up and was very friendly and informative about the puppy and her kennel even though it was late at night. We spoke for about a 30 minutes and I decided right then and there that I would make the purchase.

The transaction was finished within that week, as smoothly as possible. My puppy, Charlie, was set to arrive via Continental Airlines to LaGuardia Airport, N.Y. His flight was scheduled to land in the afternoon. Unfortunately, his flight was delayed for 6 hours and I was very worried! I called Lynda a number of times from the airport and she was very helpful and reassuring. She was not once rude or unpleasant. Charlie finally arrived at about 10 p.m and I called Lynda with the good news.

I am stopped by people on the street wanting to know where I got my dog every time I take Charlie out. I have been told by my vet that he is a very healthy dog. I can tell he was taken care of very well while he was with Lynda.
This response in no way discredits or insults those that have a different opinion. Buying a puppy online can be a very difficult and stressful thing. I'm simply telling all those interested that my experience with Lynda was a very pleasant one.

I suggest that you do your research before making such an important decision. Not only is it expensive, it's also the matter of becoming attached to a living thing.

Lynda is a sweet lady who did all she could for us when there was a major storm and flights were canceled and my puppy was due to fly into Newark.

She drove in heavy rain to bring him to the airport as soon as she possibly could.

This was my first puppy that I got with my girlfriend, and he is the the love of our lives. He is intelligent, healthy, active, and ridiculously good looking.

There are literally a dozen people either in cars or people walking by that stop me to ask about the dog, about the breed, and where he came from.

We paid 1,200 for the dog via paypal, and made a deposit for him ahead of time. It was the best thing we ever did.

I can't imagine Linda doing any of those things that these girls are mentioning, considering the fact that this is her business.

On a separate note, Lynda doesn't breed nearly as many puppies as most of these breeders do, and she sends bi-weekly photo updates so you can see how your puppy is growing, and it's pretty awesome. The dogs are always with her, and she goes to a really good vet that's many miles out of her way to get the dogs the care they need.

She's been doing this for a long time and knows what she's doing. All her dogs come with a one year "warranty." Our dog is 10 pounds too, and he's still the cutest shih-tzu at every shih-tzu event in San Francisco. People get jealous of us when we bring him by. You can't really expect someone with no experience to breed litters of dogs without the stability of a home with ample room, contacts with vets.

This isn't a hobby, these are live and delicate animals that need attention and love 24/7. That's what she gives them, and that's what we feel when we got our dog.

I will be contacting her in a month or two again, to get a second girl dog.

Positive reference for Mrs Lynda White of Pleasant Valley Kennel

Hello,
I just felt the need to take a minute to give my honest opinion on Ms White. I have known her for several years. She has always treated me with honesty & respect. She is also VERY clear on if she is giving Limited or Full registration on one of her precious & beautiful Shih Tzu. I ashure you she has every right to sell one of her dogs with limited AKC registration if she so chooses. It is her decision & right as a responsible breeder.

I am not familiar with either individual who have made these claims against Mrs White but one has to wonder why the 19 year old who bought the dog second hand is doing all the talking. I would like to see a statement from the individual who supposedly did the original purchase from Mrs White for the purpose of breeding & I would like to see something in writing proving that to be the case.

I myself am a breeder & am often approached with dishonest intentions when someone claims to want a pet for a pet price but then if given the chance would turn the tables very quickly to see if they can pressure the breeder to give them breeding rights. The oldest one in the book is " Well I didnt quite understand" or in many cases where someone resold a dog under false pretenses & blame a breeder for no papers. I hope this is not the case here.

I would also like to know why the care of Mrs Whites dogs has been put into question here. Afterall what does someone being bitter over breeding rights have to do with the care & attention given to Mrs Whites Dogs. Have you the 19 year old who bought the dog second hand ever been to Lynda's home to back up your false reporting & claims. Have you ever seen any of her dogs in person or laid eyes on her kennel to know what you are talking about & reporting? I know for a fact her dogs are very well cared for & she runs a clean kennel.

Also I have heard nothing but good from the professional breeders who have done buisness with her over the years. I think the two of you who have plotted on how to get you some papers to go with the pretty dog need to go back to the drawing board.

Dear Customers,
I would like you to know that the statements made by poster named Angie Johnson are incorrect. I have sent in proof to this web site to show that I have done everything possible to help this lady to correct this situation. As she states in her complaints, she purchased a puppy from another owner (Tamara Ghossain) NOT FROM PLEASANT VALLEY KENNELS. The papers I have included are the sales receipt showing the purchase of the puppy from Pleasant Valley Kennels for Tamara Ghossain, and the letter that AKC sent after I attempted to assist Tamara with receiving the AKC registration. This letter requests that Tamara verify that she made the transfer to Angie Johnson. Therefore, Ms. Ghossain is responsible at this point. I would like to work this matter out with Angie, but have no contact information for her. Attempts to contact the original owner failed due to her phone number being disconnected. I have no way to contact either of them.

There are factual errors in the original posting, and my paperwork proves that the puppy was purchased for $800.00, on October 25th, 2003 by Mr. Sean Conroy for Tamara Ghossain. The puppy was sold to Mr. Conroy with "Limited Registration" which is a common practice with champion puppies. This is done to prevent our champion puppies from winding up in a puppy mill, breeding litter after litter. A champion bred puppy sold with breeding rights costs substantially more than a puppy sold without.

Please know that we run a caring, conscientious and loving puppy home. Our puppies are our heart, and we try our best to ensure that you are happy and satisfied with a purchase from us. If you ever have any problems with us, we are considerate and open to finding a solution. We have many very happy customers that would be delighted to provide references for us. Please do not let this false posting scare you away from doing business with us, as work very hard to keep our good name, and to make our customers happy.

Thank you for your consideration,
Sincerely,
Lynda White, Owner

Not accurate............

#12REBUTTAL Owner of company

I sold this shih tzu to a lady named Tamara for $800 (not 1200$ and I will post the paperwork soon to show this.) I informed her that this dog was being sold as a pet only and she could breed it for her own puppies but they couldn't be registered in order to be sold or shown.

She then called me to get this limited breeding taken off of her registration. I did not want to argue over the conditions we agreed to and decided to change the paperwork to open since she lived so far away and there would be no real threat to my business in the area if she turned out to be a breeder.

(I do not sale to breeders for breeding and this is in my contract.) I asked her to send her paperwork with the $25 fee so I could get it changed. She did mail me the $25 but it was sent without the paperwork.

I tried but was unable to get in touch with her regarding this. Therefore, I couldn't get the paperwork changed. I did not hear from her again for over 1 year. Then Tamara apparently decided to sale this dog to Angela. I agreed to change this paperwork with the understanding that Tamara would remain the owner.

When I found out that she was going to sale the dog, I changed my mind. There would be no reason for Angela to get so upset about this situation if she were not wanting to do something with this dog that went against the original agreement.

Angela called me repeatedly regarding this situation after I told her that I did not feel right continuing with the direction that we were headed. After multiple calls from various different number at various hours of the day and night, I did tell her to drop the subject and stop calling.

The AKC has investagated this complaint and found no basis. (I will post this paperwork as soon as I get another copy from AKC) I have sold hundreds for puppies to hundreds of customers and I have never had another complaint that I am aware of.

These customers provide me with vital income and I would never treat them negatively as if I do not need them. I value my customers and do everything resonable to help them.
