In my nearly 30 years in the life insurance industry, PMA/Washington National Insurance Co. is by far the most unethical, corrupt misleading company that I've ever representated.  I should have known better but I believed their lies when they were recruiting me.

To begin with, they train their new agents to rebate in order to sell their products.  Rebating is illegal in all 50 states and if an agent gets caught rebating, they can loose their insurance license.  PMA requires agents to buy gifts from them which causes agents to go i nto debt with the company.  In addition, because the premiums are payroll deducted, most employees at the different schools

and other municipalities know how the game is played and will purchase a policy in order to get the free gift only to cancell the policy after you leave so there's never a payroll deduction . By the time you recieve a lapse letter, you have no idea who the client is or where they worked.  I felt uneasy with this business model and left the company after only a few weeks and the company has pursued me relentlessly in order to collect this debt.

I would not, or could not, in good judgement recommend this outfit to any agent looking for a career in this industry.  There are plenty of good, competent insurance companies out there but Washington National is not one of them.
