Work In Your Chosen Field
#2Consumer Suggestion
Fri, June 25, 2004
Read many posts about people buying businesses or into a business. Many of them have never worked in that field. You need to work in that field for some time, for someone else before you open up your own company. That way you can learn the ins and outs on someone else's time and dime without laying out a whole lot of money.
If it works for you, sure go ahead and open up your own place after spending some time in the trenches. There are plenty of how to books, the Small Business Admin holds seminars, and many school districts and colleges offer classes. Don't see any reason to pay someone big bucks for something you can get for free or at little cost.
But, you need to work in that field for a while before opening up your own place. Good luck and go get 'em.
