Back in February of 2007 I saw my first self-serve ice vending machine. I thought it would be a good way to make some extra money and it seemed rather easy to do. I contacted several vendors until I found one that I liked and thought I could trust. After about six months of planning and working with the banks I finally closed on my loan. I was very excited because many of my friends said I could not make it happen. After getting the money and writing a check to Raymond Logan of Polar Ice Express I received my unit and I was in business. Unfortunately for me my machine was made by a ruthless manufacturer who had no one's best interest except for himself. The manufacturer is also located in Lake City, Fla. The name of the manufacturer is called JRS Self-Serve Ice LLC. The ice machine that they are turning out to customers is very inferior. It never works. The manufacturer believes that they have done nothing wrong. They do not believe they have to make any repairs to their machines. They do not believe that they have to pay someone to fix it. They do not believe that they should reimburse you if you get someone to fix it. My machine was only a couple of days old before I experienced my first problem. After that it has only worked no more than 2 weeks before it breaks down. Even though I was having problems I trusted the owner of the company and believed that he would make things right. He told me that he was a Christian and he only did business with people who shot straight. Well, it turns out that the manufacturer was stealing from him so they then dissolved their partnership. Even then I thought that I would be okay because this individual had the resources to make everything right. Well, after almost one year my machine is broken again and there is no relief insight. I spent almost $225, 000 in setting up my company and getting started. I decided to get out of the business and call in the buy back policy that Polar Ice Express (Raymond Logan) had on his website (www.polariceexpress.com) The owner has since taken this buy back policy off of his website. Once Mr. Logan discovered that he had invested in and was selling worthless machines. He decided to dissolve Polar Ice Express by getting his fancy lawyer to fill out the paper work. He is now called Polar Ice Express International. Creative huh? Well, I asked him on Sept. 18, 2008 to give me my money back and he told me that company did not exist anymore and he could not give me any money. Well, I had enough. I began writing letters and filing claims with every government agency I could fine. Do not do business with Raymond Logan and Polar Ice Express. He is a very dishonest businessman. Also, do not buy any ice machines made by JRS Self Serve Ice LLC. Stan Deese and Jim Evans are the owners of this company and they are now making machines for www.icemychest.com. I have nothing against the owners of www.icemychest.com but I would not buy a machine from them if they are still using machines made by Self Serve Ice. There are a few good companies to do businesses out there who have class if you want to get into the ice business. I would not get with any of the folks mentioned here. Thank you for your attention to this.

Raymond Logan has petitioned the court system to allow him to file for bankruptcy. Days before his first round of lawsuits.

Let me be clear

I want to be clear. As long as Raymond is a part of Polar Ice and continues to lie to possible buyers, Polar Ice will have trouble. Johnny, Ben and Earl have been great and admit there are issues and work tirelessly to work through these issues. But Raymonds actions apparently have cost him in the past and will continue to cost him. He is not a professional individual and has no concept of truth. I will post a letter to him later that threatened legal action. Its unfortunate that such a great concept has to be dragged down by one individual.

Folks, I am a current owner of a Polar Ice machine. There are several owners of the current company, as I understand. Raymond is without a doubt the weak point of this organization. He made many promises up front, but failed to deliver on almost all of them. The others in the company strive to provide us with a working version after selling us a prototype for full price. I as well am interested in talking to an attorney regarding raymonds initial promises. As well, Raymond is currently in a large lawsuit in regards to his former company. I know other owners of machines that are very dissatisfied. Please contact me at jason.horn@mchsi.com as I would like to discuss the issues you are having. I have everything documented including the web site information.

Hello, First of all it has been many months since I have visited this site again. I have heard that many people have reviewed it even Raymond Logan. My only response is if anyone wants to get in touch with me can do so at (((Redacted))). I will be happy to tell you my story and what I have been doing lately in the ice business. Mr. Logan failed to adddress the real concern which is his buy back policy. I would like for him to discuss that in his next rebuttal and then put God Bless Him after that.

To whom it might concern, M,r. C did not tell you he bought the machine from jr's serv ice machines whom is parnters with Ice MY CHEST, they sell the same machines that Mr. C bought, he has not told you i suggested he lease land before buying, but he went an borrowed over $225,000 to do business, his location could not support his investment, both the macfactory and the company he bought it from has spent many times correcting his and others mistakes in fixing it back from the major problems they have caused, he has broken all warrenties on the machine by calling any one he knows to work on it, as people know about this case they know the real truth.

Mr. C is wanting me to make his loan payments for his problems that he caused, he has refused help and now wants to attack other company's with his problem, i am not one to help some one who doesn't want to help himself, I wish him no harm an MAY GOD BLESS him, Raymond Logan, if you want to hear the truth futher your welcome to call me at 386-961-9363, THANK-YOU.

To whom it may concern,

My name is Raymond Logan. Allen Clark came to Polar Ice Express Inc. last summer to buy an ice vending machine. He told me of his plan of borrowing $225,000-$250,000 to buy land and a machine for this area. I told him I would try to rent a space first to see if he did enough business to pay his loan back. He did not take my advice and he has fallen way behind on his payments on the loan.

The machine has performed as he expected, as with any business you don't just set it up miles away and expect that it will run itself. Mr. Allen's experience with the machine was caused for two reasons. First, as with any piece of equipment with moving parts, if they are not used regularly as designed by the manufacturer, they begin to need maintenance more often. I have the same machine like he has. We purchased them from JR's Self Serv ice machine, and mine works well as long as it sells ice and does not sit idle.

Second, these are professional ice machines. They work well if you only let people that are qualified to work on these machines touch it. Mr. Allen Clark has broken all our and the manufacturer's warranties by allowing non-qualified people to work on his machine. JR'S Self Serv Ice Machines has gone many times to repair his and others work that has messed up the machine's performance. Mr. Clark expects me to pay his loans because of bad business decisions on his part. If you are reading this and would like more detail before making a decision I will be glad to talk to you personally. I do not wish to harm Mr. Clark's reputation on this website.

Polar Ice Express is constantly striving to be the best in our industry. We have partnered with the best factory in this industry. We own and have tested some of our competitions machines, none of them come close to the quality of the machines we use. We invite you to come for a visit so we can show you the difference in person. Our product is the top ice vending machine in the industry by far.

My hope is that by reading his post that you don't let one person's poor business decisions cause you to buy an inferior product. I have sent e-mails to Mr. Allen Clark about fixing his machine but he does not want my help to fix it to start making ice. He and the people he hired to work on the machine went in it and disassembled several things he has told me that they could not fix. I wish him no harm, and I forgive him of his remarks.

Thank you and May God bless,
Raymond Logan

I've Been Ripped Off TOO!!!

I purchased a Polar Ice Express machine almost a year ago and was promised a money back guarantee for the purchase price minus any profits. My situation is not as brutal as the original posting, but I have requested a refund prior to the polar ice express international name change and was told to go to self serv icce to get my money back. I did not buy the machine from them and wanted to get a refund as promised.
My unit is an old one and works ok. However I am not getting the sales that I was told I should be getting and want a refund. I was lied to and deceived and will not purchase another polar ice express machine. The biggest problem is that I spend a pile of money on a stupid NON refundable territory.
I would purchase a different unit from icemchest, if I could get all my money back. The problems that I had at the beginning dont occur often and they have offered me some parts to make my machine better, but I don't have the time to install or the profits to pay someone. Some times I fell like I got shafted when I find out it was one of the older models. This really hurts when I ffantasize about getting all my mony back and buying a new machine that cost less.

JRS Self Serve Ice LLC and Polar Ice Express

A great deal has happened since I made the first report. My machine is broken again and it has been down for another week. I decided to contact my lawyer to tell her to call the manufacturer (Self Serve) and tell them to fix my machine. One of the partners told her that they would be glad to come and fix the machine if I pay for the labor. I could not believe it. After a year of having problems from day one with machine they still want me to continue paying for it! I told her absolutely not. I gave them one more chance and that was there response. As of this writing I have decided to cut ties with them completely and continue my campaign against them to let consumers know how they do business.

The other partner found out that I called and told my attorney that my problems were self-inflicted. We both were scratching our heads on that one. I mean he is basically saying it is my fault that my machine keeps breaking down. I guess he is saying that I walk around with negative thoughts all day and they manifest into my machine breaking down. Ridiculous! He told my lawyer that they should not even come down to repair the machine. I am thinking okay not only will they charge me labor..they don't think they should come down at all. Oh well, that was there last chance. I will continue to post comments until they fix my machine or until Polar Ice Express gives me my money back. I have had friends tell me that no one will believe me. Well, I have good news. One of the partners of Self Serve told my lawyer that he lost two sells because of ripoffreport. I was very excited because I did not believe it would happen so fast. This whole thing could have been easily avoided if they were willing to drive down to Reidsville, Georgia (where the machine is located) and make things right. I am only three hours away from Lake City, Florida. Three hours! A simple test to see if I am telling the truth would be to contact the company called Ice My Chest. If you recall, Self Serve Ice makes their new machines for this new company. There website is www.icemychest.com If you are interested in buying a machine ask them for references. I will be surprised if they can give you even one person who is pleased with the machine. They used to tell people that my machine was breaking down because it was the older model and they have worked out the "kinks".

I will probably be starting a website that will be dedicated to letting those who are interested in the ice business to avoid any company that Self Serve Ice manufactures their machine. I did warn one gentleman who contacted me six months ago. I told him that I was having a lot of problems so he called the people with Ice My Chest and they told him that my machine was one of the first ones and that they manufacturer had worked out the kinks. Well, fast forward six months later I called the guy to stop him because my problems were getting worse. He said that he was a "big boy" and things would be okay. I said "oh well, who am I to tell him what to do. He told me he had already purchased the machine and they would be up and running in a couple of weeks. I wished him good luck and hung up the phone. I then called him a couple of weeks later to find out he was having all kinds of problems and he was very discouraged. I could not say that I was surprised. I do understand that companies when they are knew will have problems. I knew that ice machines were not perfect. I never dreamed that people would actually just take the money and not try to keep the machines running. I mean it is to there benefit to have the machines working. They might have to spend some of the money that they had earned but if they were doing the right thing I would not have a problem with telling people that.

I just got a letter from the lawyers of Polar Ice Express International. They say that I have slandered their client. Well, the last time I checked slander was when you told a lie that hurt someone'e reputation. Everything I said in the previous post was not a lie. Now it might have hurt the person's reputation but my reputation is hurt with my customers to. Is he concerned about that? I am embarrassed to go to Reidsville, Georgia to check on my machine because I have let those people down. I have not slandered anyone and they just need to "man up" and take care of their responsibilites. I gave them a chance to give me a new machine, fix the current machine, or give me my money back. I got a few hundred dollars for repairs but I have lost tons of revenue. The owner has ten days to respond to a letter that I sent him from my attorney. If he pays me my money, I will be the first to post it here on this report. If not, believe me I will be posting something. It is up to him to make it right and I will go away. We shall see. Pray for me!
