My wife Lisa **** bought a new Polaris Sportsman 500 from (name deleted - see below) in Menomonie Wisconsin in Dec of 04. She did not ride it much in 05 because we were expecting.

So now probably a month ago I decided to take it for a ride in the snow. I was riding it in the snow spinning around when it slammed into 4x4 on its own. From that day forward it has been stuck in 4x4.

So I called (deleted) and said what had happened. They said, yes that does happen with them and they don't know why. This machine has 200 miles on it with like 17 hrs. It is new but it is out of warranty by a month.

(deleted) was very helpful and said yes bring it down and we will take a look and call Polaris Industries, they should work with me being that it is such low miles and just barely out of warranty. They are pretty good about that they said. Well Polaris Industries said no way. (deleted) was even kinda surprised.

I then sent Polaris Industries 2 emails in detail what happened, and heard nothing after a week. I then called them after waiting on hold for about 15 minutes I spoke with a live person. I explained to her the deal. She was very helpful and said she would forward it to another person and I should be expecting a call tommorow, which is today 2-22-06.

Yes I did get a call at work. The man I spoke with was a jerk. He said that there is no way they will cover it no matter what I said. I was upset with his response being that I refered a few people to polaris for ATVS and snowmobiles and I own 3 polaris snowmobiles myself.

I then said to him, is this thing suppose to slam into 4x4 when it spins in 2 wheel? He said yes it will. Well I have rode with many many many people with these new machines and watched them go down thru the mud or whatever in 2 wheel and nobodys ever slams in automatically. Being what happened to mine probably caused damage to the front diff costing about $875.00. That I will have to end up replacing out of pocket + installation. For a machine with 200 miles and 1 month out of warranty.

It makes me very sick and my wife too, that this had to happen this way. We paid over $6000 for this thing and yes it has only 200 miles, and a little over a month out of warranty I thought Polaris wouldn't screw a guy like that but I guess they will. I expected full coverage or at least pro rated coverage being there is certain circumstances involved.

Also the guy told me it would not be covered even if it was under warranty because in the owners manual it says somewhere about the 4x4 engaging on its own but I can not find it. I would really want this to get out so no one else has there 4x4 slam in and wreck somthing and get the go around like I did.

I will never do business with polaris again and I will make sure anyone in the state of wisconsin that knows who I am gets this story too. I don't do business that way on to my worst enemy. There is what they call understanding. Which Polaris Industries, I think have none at all. This is what I THINK of polaris and what had happened in my situation recently.
