I recieved a letter from this company on Saturday and wanted to call but their offices were closed for the weekend. I did however get on the net and aquire a number fo M.B.N.A. America Bank.

They were able to look up my old account, it was payed in full and I had cancelled it several years ago. I gave them the info in the letter Potfolio Recovery had sent and they were quickly able to tell me who really owed the money, state they were from and amount. When I called Portfolio Recovery Donna L.Barber started on about who I was, where I worked,my s.s.#,my house morgage and so on...when she finally shut up to take a breath I let her know she did not have any of her info correct. Then she wanted me to tell her my tele# and other info I told her no way that was happening.

She was rude, uncaring and unhelpful...I ask for her Manager...I then got the same treatment from her with threats of slapping a lein on my property etc...threatening me. This company really needs slapped down and made accountable for their actions. This account is still pending. This problem could also deal with poor info from a skip trace company that they use.

Would it have been that difficult for them to have said thank you for the call, we will follow up on this? Or is it proper procedure of Portfolio Recovery Associates to treat honest people with total disregard. Unfortunately it will take an act of congress to limit abusive nature like this.

IN REGUARDS TO CAMCO- THE COMPANY BOUGHT THESE ACCOUNTS BY MISTAKE.

THEY ARE UNCOLLECTABLE AND SHOULD BE REMOVED FROM YOUR CREDIT REPORT IF YOU WRITE A LETTER STATING HOW OLD THE DEBT IS.

THESE ACCOUNTS ARE ATLEAST 10 YEARS OLD, WAY PAST THE STATUTE OF LIMITATION FOR ANY STATE. 2. PRA HAS TO FOLLOW FDCPA LAWS, THEY CANNOT HARASS YOU.

HARASSMENT IS REALLY UP TO YOU IN YOUR EYES. THEY CANNOT CALL YOU MORE THAN 2 TIMES A WEEK.

THEY CAN CALL YOU AT WORK UNLESS YOU SAY THEY ARE NOT ALLOWED TO CALL YOU BECAUSE OF ADVERSE REACTION FROM YOUR EMPLOYER.

THEY CANNOT THREATEN TO SUE YOU, THEY MUST DO IT. IF THEY THREATEN TO SUE YOU, ASK THEM WHEN...

THEY MUST THREATEN TO SUE YOU AND THEY MUST USE THE WORD SUE, NOT "TAKE THE NEXT STEP" LIKE MOST OF THEM ARE TRAINED TO SAY.

THEY NEXT STEP IS FOR THE ACCOUNT TO LAND ON SOMEONE ELSES DESK TO TRY AND COLLECT FROM YOU.

THERE ARE ONLY A HANDFUL OF STATES THAT YOUR WAGES CANNOT BE GARNISHED FROM. PA,SC,FL AND TEXAS.

THEY WILL NOT AND CANNOT SUE YOU IF THE ACCNT BALANCE IS LESS THAN 2000.00.

SOME OTHER WAYS TO GET THE ACCOUNT OFF OF YOUR CREDIT REPORT IS TO WRITE A LETTER DISPUTING THE DEBT BUT IT MAY REAPPEAR IN 3-6 MONTHS AGAIN WHICH MEANS THAT YOU HAVE TO KEEP SENDING LETTERS.

ITS A HORRIBLE CYCLE OF EVENTS. IF ALL ELSE FAILS, GET CALLER ID AND JUST IGNORE THEM- PRIVACY MANAGER WORKS WELL ALSO.

BY THE WAY, THE COMPANY WAS STARTED BY A 26 YEAR OLD GUY AND ITS TRADELINE WHICH IS REPORTED ON YOUR CREIDT REPORT AND AFFECTS YOUR FICA SCORE IS ONE OF THE WORST YOU CAN HAVE.
