I hired Portland City Movers 2 days before my move to the new house. They contracted with me for a 24 ft. truck. The move was to take place on a Saturday at the end of the month of January. The company showed up to the residence with no truck.

When I inquired what happened to the truck they stated they got my move mixed up with another move that had a truck but needed labor only. They left immediately to get a truck from Budget where they have a contract. They promised it would be about another 1/2 hour wait. I waited for an 1 1/2 hours and no truck or movers. I called the company number and was returned a call from the message I left.

The truck they went to get was late returning from the previous rental. They promised it would be 1/2 hour more. After waiting another hour I called again. No responce. Left a message. Called a 3rd time. Owner returned call to inform me that if I went and rented a truck myself they would provide movers at a "discounted" rate. The end of the month, on a Saturday there are no trucks available. I was stranded with a move out date from my rental that had to be met. No movers ever showed up for the contracted move. No phone call of appology, NOTHING! Portland City Movers completely left me in the lurch.

I hired movers in the first place due to a back disability. I am under an 8lb weight limit. Portland City Movers were aware of this on the hiring. On the following day, Sunday, I called again to just see what had happened. I was yelled and sworn at by the owner, Travis Chambers. He was upset by a comment one of the neighbors who was helping me had made stating concern for the compentency of the company to forget the truck. He desided at that time not to do business with me. The company has a policy to refuse service. Portland City Movers enforced this without informing me. They did not call to perception check the comment. They simply didn't show up!

This is no way to conduct business. I STRONGLY suggest you do not conduct business with Portland City Movers as they are thin skinned, rude, and have no proper business skills. Save yourself a moment of grief.

There is a listing of all properly licensed movers for the State of Oregon posted on the Oregon Department of Transportation's web site. I think you'll see that this group is not on there.

Go to this website here and file a compaint. ODOT will then go after these people for not having proper moving authority.
