I could write a horror novel (non-fiction) about our experience with Power HRG, but rather than waste your time, I’ll give you the bullet point version. It will seem really long but again, the whole experience would be a novel:

Salesman gave 5 hour presentation (7pm - midnight on a week day). The wife and I were initially told it would take 1 hour. We both get up at 6am for work on weekdays so this was extremely inconvenient. We were bullied into accepting their contract with the salesman using hard sell and “first visit” discounts. Price was above average compared to others.

The sales department and installation department are extremely disconnected as sales promised a product that they could not install. 3 of our 9 windows could not be installed as promised. We had to change from 3-lite sliders to 2-lite sliders because of the size of the window opening. Again, total disconnect between sales and install departments. I believe we had 3 addendums to our original contract – proving that the sales force will sell you anything even if it cannot be done.

The project manager had difficulties with our village over egress requirements with 2 of the 9 windows so the full installation took 2 months and 2 separate installations. This required me to take multiple days off of work in order to be present during installation. Regarding the egress issues, the project manager put full blame on our village and tried to charge us an extra $500 for the changes that needed to be made. We know the company has done business in our village before, so how can they be so ignorant of our egress code? Large, professional companies absorb these costs – NOT try to pass them on to the customer while blaming others for their mistakes.

Here is the cherry on top: we tried to pay-in-full during the first installation but were told they didn’t want payment until the job was completed – project manager said he would probably lose the check if given at this early date. During second installation, the project manager did not show up or call us (against their policy) so there was nobody to take our payment. We contacted them to make our payment and they said they set us up with financing at around 14% interest rate with Wells Fargo. We obviously made no agreement to finance the project.

As for the product, it is amazing. The windows are very high quality and the installation team (subcontractors not employed by Power HRG) was extremely professional and very skilled. If only we could have purchased the windows directly from the subcontractors, this entire nightmare would have been avoided. I’d name them here if I had that information to give out.

Conclusion: avoid working with this company unless you can put up with their incompetence and lack of professionalism. The time, energy, and effort it took us to get them to do the job correctly was immense. My wife was at the point of tears on multiple occasions from their rudeness (project manager) and incompetence. We are in contact with Dan Price (VP of sales I think) and he has no answers for the problems we’ve encountered. So if damage control from Power HRG reads this, do not contact us. We are already in contact at a high level and no issues have been resolved.

P.S. another lie I found while doing more research on the company: the salesmen say that they do not get commission for estimates but I went to glassdoor and indeed and found that they DO get commission for estimates. Buyer beware.
