Bought a Treadmill for £1000 online.

It broke down after a year. I contacted Powerhouse Fitness who then tried to pass me to the manufacturer. They refused to fix the faulty item, tried to pass me to the manufacturer, told me I was out of Warranty, told me the Sale of Goods Act didn't apply to them and told me to contact Trading Standards! i.e. The exact Opposite to their obligations under the Sale of Goods Act.

Under the Sale of Goods Act, goods must be as described, of satisfactory quality and fit for purpose. If you find a fault with your product before it would be reasonably be expected to do so you can claim against the store rather than the manufacturer, even beyond the warranty. And you have six years to take a claim to court for faulty goods in England, Wales and Northern Ireland; in Scotland you have five years.

Email from Powerhouse fitness:

Hi XXX, i sent this through to the directors and they have stated that as our warranty has elapsed and the manufacturers warranty was never activated then, as far as they are concerned, the treadmill is now not covered by either powerhouse or icon.  they have advised me that if you wish to take this further you should contact your local trading standards authority .  unfortunately in this instance i cannot help you further.

They do not reply to letters or answer the phone.

Next stop is teh small calims court!

If you are going to buy a Treadmill, or anythig for that matter, DO NOT use this company.
