Cancelled gym membership in March 2009. I was leaving the state of Arizona and could not attend gym. Cancelled and signed cancellation form along with gym manager. He was clearly not happy and made me wait. He didn't ask why?, any problems?, you know, how can we get you back? So that right there wasn't a good sign. He stormed off like a baby.

Paramount Acceptance is the collector of fees for Powerhouse Gym. They sent me a letter stating they couldn't get my payment and charged me 55.00.  Yes, I overdrew my credit card and I sent them a check for the amount.

I moved and thought all was good. I recently looked at my credit card statement online and saw that PA was still charging me 25.00 monthly. I called them and they said that my account wasn't closed due to my delinquent charges(which I paid). They HAD received a cancellation notice but did nothing with it.

The wonderful 15 year old at PA who answered the phone stated to me that it was MY responsibility to check on these things and that I would have to close my account with the gym AGAIN.

Every gym's phone numbers in the whole state of Arizona are not working.

Well, the final word.

Credit card did "investigation" into the Scamamount charges and corporate office sent them a letter cancelling my account October 13th. This is after I sent my cc after them. The gym isn't there anymore and looks like I am eating 150.00.  Anyone out there that has an idea how to get my money back? I do, but it's totally illegal.

The cc people were cool but couldn't answer some basic questions about specifics. The letter from Scamamount corporate offices was good enough for them after they scammed money from me.

Scamamount won...for now.  Unfortunately for them I have a 150 dollar issue to settle with them.  And when they pay up, it will be with interest.

Called Paramount Acceptance (what a nice name for scammers) And they were adamant that I had to go to the gym and cancel.  OMG...what do you know? They(the gym) have packed up shop and moved!  So in other words, Paramount, operating out of the back of a liquor store, doesn't even know who they are collecting for!

The final word? I had to cancel my credit card that they were linked to and they agreed to credit my account for 150.00.  I won't hold my breath for that, but hopefully they do the right thing.  For as many complaints against this "company" I wonder why they are still in business.

If I have helped ONE person, then this was well worth posting.
