Pre-paid Legal promises you this is all the legal help you'll ever need. Not so! Pre-paid legal does not have their own law firm, they work hand in hand with a law firm in another state. This is important for you to know.

The first time I called, the attorney from the law firm they use was so mean and rude, practically calling me a stupid idiot. Then he had the balls to say my representative from Pre-paid was "stupid", and "didn't know what she was talking about", and "they didn't know anything over there." This was my first call, and he's telling me this about the company he works with, Pre-Paid legal.

The company that sends them customers. Needless to say, neither the law firm or prepaid legal did much about that jerk. He continued on there with no repremand.

Then, they had another attorney call me, and I faxed a letter to him stating what I needed. I needed an afidavit, a sworn statement in writing, sent to a company I was trying to get out of a contract with. It turns out that what he sent was not an afidavit, and I'm still in the contract with the company.

I called 3 more times for different reasons, and each time the attorney, a different one every time, did a lot of talking, but didn't help in the least.

Sometimes they would even say "legally, I cannot give out information pertaining to that subject."

Last, they told me because my service was so terrible, I would get a refund , only to wait three months and find out, I wasn't getting it after all. My next door neighbor told me about them, and I didn't listen to him. I hope you listen to me!!!

What a Sham! PPL Distributor Chimes In

#3Consumer Comment

Fri, March 04, 2005

The previous rebuttal is such an obvious insider for Pre Paid Legal Services. It is like reading an infomercial for PPL.
You just so happened to come across this site while looking for something else? Sure you did. And I bet you don't work with PPL either. Didn't think so.
Then explain how you can possibly recite almost verbatim PPL's marketing pitch and business strategy including the work from home b.s. that they use to close housewives and retirees with.
The service is a ripoff and the business opportunity is a joke, MLM meets lawyers on crack. What a catastrophe!

Pre-Paid Legal - Look At The Facts

#3Consumer Suggestion

Sat, February 07, 2004

I came to this site to research a company (not Pre-Paid Legal)I had problems with. Usually I don't respond but these negative comments could hurt someone who needs the help a Pre-Paid Legal membership offers.

NOTE: 80% of the population can not afford to hire an attorney or pay a $10,000 retainer so they won't call one because of fear of the cost. This is our industry - a 15 to 25 billion dollar market.

Concerning Problem Resolution -

Contact either the person who sold you the membership, or the home office if you have a complaint immediately. Make sure you have the contact information for that law firm and if it was the provider firm or a referral attorney from the provider firm. All complaints are taken seriously and investigated.

Some people complain because they want the law firm to do something they can't legally do. That is a different situation. We can't tell a law firm how to run their business or how to handle cases.

I can tell you the home office does not tolerate a lawyer that acts in an unprofessional manner - IF THEY KNOW ABOUT IT. There is an 800 number on the back of the membership card for the Customer Care Dept.

The "Provider Attorneys" for the state of Pennsylvania are so helpful!

I've used my Pre-Paid Legal membership for 2 years. Over those last 2 years these are the services I received from the attorneys. I can only speak of my own experience:

Note: They saved me money by telling me when I didn't need to run out and hire an attorney.

1. I called at least 12 times to ask questions directly to the attorneys. (several different attorneys) (Title/Area 1 coverage)

2. They drafted a Will (Title/Area 1 coverage)

3. They reviewed a real estate document and advised me on how to get of my contract. It worked. (Title/Area 1 coverage)

4. Wrote 4 letters - 2 to (2) different Internet Service Providers for overcharging, and 1 to a car rental company. (Title/Area 1 coverage)

The most recent letter to neighbors who have nothing better to do with than to harrass me.
(Title/Area 1 coverage)

This did not cost me anything out of pocket. Was it worth paying the $26 a month to have a access to services provided by a large LAW FIRM? YOU BET!

There are 4 other areas of coverage/benefits I didn't even get into, included in the $26 per month. Different lawyers charge different prices for their services. That's why there is no guarentee on what the 25% discount will be.

What more do you want for $26 a month, per family? (see contract for specifics/exclusions on who is covered) Call any attorney in town and ask for a FLAT MONTHLY RATE on those services. It won't be $26.

Look at a company brochure for your state to see what coverage is really available in your state.

READ YOUR CONTRACT - If you have our membership you can have an attorney review documents and contracts BEFORE you sign them at no additional charge.

THE BUSINESS SIDE - The service works and the checks cash.

Well, I can tell you if a company can offer all that and honesty, ethics, and integrity, I wanted to be a part of it.

I looked at it this way, I was going to tell my friends and family about the service anyway. If Pre-Paid Legal offered to pay me, then better yet. Did you ever get a check for telling someone you drive a Ford, eat at McDonalds, or wear Nike sneakers? Why not?

New businesses don't expect a profit for 3 to 5 years. If you're in this business and still have not seen a profit - you don't spend your days working, you spend your days rubbing a magic lamp and won't succeed in any business.

Take responsibility for your own actions and you will see your life will begin to change.
There is so much more I could say about Pre-Paid Legal Services Inc., but I don't need to.

Intelligent people will contact the company DIRECTLY to get their questions answered properly. Go to www.prepaidlegal.com, read the factual company information, then call them with your list of questions. Ask them for your local Area Coordinator or Regional Vice President's contact information.

Deal with the facts - go to the source. How long do you want to swim on the bottom of the fish tank?
