these guys are pretty bad to their customers, esp if you're a decent-looking female. both naim and kevin have asked me out on dates when i went to get my car fixed (back in july 19, 2005 and before this incident) and i got hell for saying 'no'. read on. (be warned, there are profanities in this)

on july 19, 2005, i brought my car to precision to have my front rotors replaced. i went to pick the car up on july 20 and decided to take it for a test drive around the block to make sure it ran ok. i heard a horrible crunching noise coming from the front driver's side when i would turn the wheel. i drove the car back and told kevin, a mechanic, the problem. i was asked if i could bring the car back tomorrow.

i told him no, i couldn't, i had paid over $900 for repairs and had to be somewhere that night and was planning a road trip in the near future. naim came and took a look at the car and found that the wheel bearing had been busted when the front rotor on the driver's side was replaced. this is due to repacking the bearings, which is NOT a good idea with honda rotors, due to the fact that the particular rotors are the press-on kind and require a special machine to put them on properly.

i also consulted with my old mechanic in boston on the problem. he believed that the car cannot be driven in this condition and the bearing should not be repacked and in no way should i have to pay for a new one. naim came out at first and told me i was to pay for a new bearing. i told him i was on the phone with someone who knew about repairs and i shouldnt have to. he finally agreed and replaced the bearing free of charge.

i left precision tune disatisfied and began going to another repair shop. we will refer to this shop as 'shop a'.

on january 5, 2006 i brought my car in to 'shop a' to have the master cylinder looked at. i was told by 'shop a' months earlier it was leaking brake fluid. i authorized a 40 point check on my car. the mechanic found that my front rotors, replaced by precision tune, were the wrong size. they were too small. it caused abnormal wear to the brake pads as well. the mechanic at 'shop a' determined the car unsafe for driving. i had driven about 5000 miles in an unsafe car! i got the information documented by 'shop a'. ill-fitting rotors destroy the brake pads and can cause failures in stopping.

i called precision on january 6 and told them the problem. i brought my car over as well as receipts from my repair done by precision and my statement from 'shop a'. naim examined the documentation from 'shop a'. he asked rudely why i had originally gone to them in the first place. i told naim that they found my master cylinder to be leaking brake fluid, and i wanted to repair it. he was rude and insistent, saying things such as, ' master cylinder leaking brake fluid? what are you talking about?! there's nothing wrong with the car!' hmm...it's not safe to drive. once naim examined my car, he did agree that the front rotors were too small and would need to be replaced, as well as the brake pads. naim also deemed the car unsafe to drive. under warranty, they are required to fix my car free of charge. this was done, but it took 3 weeks! naim told me the supplier for the rotors had sent the wrong size to them. i believe a good mechanic would know they were the wrong size and would have not put them on my car. causing not only damage to my car, but risking my safety as well.

it took until january 17 before my car went in the shop. i was told by naim that the parts would take one week to arrive. so there my car sat, undriveable for over one week. a little over a week and i had still heard no word from precision of my parts arriving so i called the shop. naim told me they couldn't get in touch with the supplier and to call back. the parts did not arrive until january 16 and the car was brought in on the 17th. i went to pick the car up the next day, january 18.

when i went in on the 17th to drop off my car, naim was on the phone. i didn't have time to stay and wait for naim patel to get off the phone. i had a long shift to work that night, and my cab had pulled up. i couldn't afford to pay the driver to run the meter. i told sheri to have naim call me. in the cab, i was told by the driver that when he pulled up earlier, the cab driver had politely asked naim if someone had called a cab. naim replied rudely, 'we didn't call a f***in cab'. in the cab, naim called me and insisted i come and pick up my car later that night. i told him i wouldn't be able to as i had to work a long shift. he shouted, 'why didn't you wait for me to get off the phone?! you don't give a f*** about your car, do you?' i was horrified! i don't believe i should be spoken to in that manner- ever! i simply said, i was sorry, but there was just no way. i couldn't afford to lose my job.

the next day, wednesday, january 18, 2006. i had my friend rob drive me to precision to pick my car up. rob's car has a donut on it, so driving was limited. i picked the car up, got a receipt and drove it around the block to make sure it ran ok. it was a bit slow stopping. having little trust in precision's work, i drove my car to 'shop a' to have the work checked. once i had dropped it off at 'shop a', i got a called from naim stating that kevin had put the old brake pads put back on instead of the new ones. i was asked if a could bring the car back. i was in rob's car. we were almost at my house. it was 5pm rush hour traffic. there was no way we could drive back to 'shop a' and bring my car to precision on time. i was asked to bring the car in the next day, thursday, january 19. i agreed.

on thursday, january 19th, 2006 after rob got out of work that afternoon, he came over and we went to 'shop a'. my car had not been checked out or fixed in any way- it only stayed there overnight. i picked up my car and started driving it to precision. on the way, i called precision to tell them i was bringing my car over. naim told me he didn't have room in the shop for it and to bring it the next day. i have to work the next day! rob gets off from work too late for me to possibly make it over there and to work without being late and losing my job.

finally, i managed to talk naim into letting me drop the car off and pick it up the next day, the 20th. it was a fiasco to get over there and try and make it to work, plus it cost me another cab fare i really couldn't afford. finally, after all this hell, i had received my car with the repairs it should have gotten back in july in a far more timely fashion. and yes, i brought it to 'shop a' to have the work checked.

naim's treatment of customers is quite ill. one minute he will be a total sycophant, saying things like 'ok sweetie' or 'honey' or 'baby (i have witnesses). however, when he is caught doing wrong, he can turn vile. kevin often remained polite and helpful in the beginning, but once he broke the bearing of my car, he was constantly rude to me and very grouchy. the one person i have no problem with is sherri, the lady working at the desk. quiet, but she gets the job done and has never been ill to me.

now, i understand that your shops are franchised but, as a corporation, is this kind of behavior what you want to stand for? i believe this is the worst treatment i have ever received from any type of service industry- ever! i am throughly disgusted! my friends who have also witnessed this treatment are, too. it is a shame that a poor girl, who struggles to get by, must put up with such treatment to take care of something she has worked very hard for. now, i am considering enrolling in auto mechanics classes so i will no longer have to deal with situations like these. what a shame...

i wrote a similar copy of this to their corporate headquarters to which i received no reply.

My cousin franchises two Precision Tunes in the Atlanta area (neither are the one on Chesire Bridge Road!). Since some family members work at the locations I've seen a lot of the day to day operations.

I can tell you that there is absolutely no way that the Precision Tune location could not source a set of pads and rotors. Autozone, Advance Autoparts, O'Reilly's have "Commercial" departments for service stations like Precision Tune. The technician goes online and orders up the parts and then they are delivered that day (in usually a very quick time too). A set of Honda rotors and pads is probably the last thing that would be unavailable to a service station so I find that Naim stating he couldn't get any as complete BS.

Precision Tune (corporate) seems to like to keep things hush-hush which is probably why you never received a response to your letter. A lady accused my cousin's shop of blowing her motor. She was full of it though. In their (Precision Tune's) service records of her car the technicians had mentioned on more than one occasion that she NEEDED to get engine work done and was advised of it. So she complains to corporate that the location never told her anything was wrong with her engine. My cousin tells corporate he has records proving she is lying. Guess what corporate does? Instead of having him, rather I should say, allowing him to go to court and making her look like an idiot they just get her a new motor through the shop's insurance. Corporate just wanted to push it under the rug and forget about it - which is no way to run a franchise!

I'm sure just about every lube shop does it but you may also want to know that the oil they put in your car has been recycled. All the dirty oil gets pumped out and cleaned and then the fresh stuff is pumped into tanks at the shops. I guess it's alright for your car but that's why they can offer oil changes for so cheap.

I have been getting my car serviced at this Precision Tune for over 3 years. Having moved to Atlanta from another state, I was scared to trust my car repairs and maintenance with just any place in the city of Atlanta. As a young, gullible woman, it would be easy for someone to sell me false parts or services. I am clueless when it comes to cars! Naim and his staff have always remained professional and have always completed my repairs and scheduled maintenance in a timely manner.

If ever I have a problem, I know that I will get an honest opinion at this Precision Tune. Naim is always willing to check out my car at a moment's notice and has never tried to sell me services or parts that were unneeded. If there is a simple solution, Naim achieves it at the lowest cost and the least amount of time possible. I know that Naim and his family take great pride in their work and take their jobs very seriously. I would recommend this Precision Tune to anyone wanting an expert opinion on his/her car and great customer service.

Good service at Precision Tune

I have been a customer of Naim's for a number of years. I cannot speak to this persons specific situation but I can state:
Most of the time my service work has been entirely problem free.
On the rare occasion that there was a problem Naim bent over backwards to make it right at no charge (for example a broken spark plug resulted in ALL my plugs being replaced free.)
I have to wait while my service is being done - and since some of my work has been extensive - I sometimes sit in the customer waiting area for a couple hours. In that time, I have NEVER seen a dis-satisfied customer, heard any profanity, or heard any rudeness. Nothing but top notch customer service!

Why did this person wait from July of 2005 til April of 2007 to file a complaint?
