I received a phone call from Preferred Benefits Club (PBC): "You're a winner". They offer you $5000 worth of merchandise (computer, phone, tv system, vacation, gas coupons etc.) for $329.90. This amount you have to pay is supposedly the tax on all the things they will send you. Upon agreeing on the great deal (silly me) they take your account number for a direct debit. It all sounds very professional and official.

However, they never sent me any merchandise of any kind, despite debiting my account by 329.90. Also, calling the customer service number they provide (1 888 888 8760) is useless, as it never picks up. I waited for 1h 20mins once. "If it sounds too good to be true..." Well, it was. I made a silly mistake, and urge not to repeat it.
