My son started receiving threating phone calls on his cell phone from a man who claims he was going to send the police after him for credit card fraud.  He called him for several days then my son brought it to my attention.  I then contacted the company to find out what was going on.  I learned from the first telephone conversation that the charges were for phone sex.  A total of 52 minutes cost over $500.00.  I told the man I was in the wrong line of business.  I told him that there would be no more further contact with my son threating him in any way or I would take legal action.  I told him he would be dealing with me from this point on.  I informed him that I needed to talk with my son to find out what was going on.  I got all the information from him including the times of the calls.  I told him I would call him back.  After speaking with my son, who at the time was under the age of 18 said he did make a phone call, but was never told there would be charges.  He said it was supposed to be free.  I asked him if he gave any credit card info to anyone.  He said yes because they said they needed a credit card number to put through for the "free" phone call just in case he wanted to call again they would have his credit card info in their system.  He fell for it and gave them his debit card number, which is not a credit card.  Of course after talking to him about the danger of all this and how he shouldn't do this, I then called the man back from the company.

I explained the situtation to him after speaking with my son. He told me that at the beginning of the phone call they ask for credit card info for verification of funds.  I told him that was bull s**t because if they did infact verify anything they would have learned that the info given to them was not a credit card, but a bank card with no funds available.  He then stated he would file charges against my son for credit card fraud now.  I told him he could try, but it wouldn't go anywhere.  His company lied and falsified info to him.  He then went on stating that at some point during the phone call a operator comes on the line and informs the person making the call that charges will begin now.  I couldn't believe that at all. I then agreed to pay an amount that was less then the amount due to put an end to all of this.  He told me this would end any further actions.  I told him once I received a letter from them stating just that I would send the money.  He asked me for my email address and sent me a letter stating account will be paid in full when the amount we agreed on was paid.  I then paid that amount on 3/19/12.  Neither my son nor I ever heard from the company again, until 6/30/12.  There was a letter from the company stating there was still a balance due on the account.  they were going to take legal action if the account was not paid in full.  I contacted the company and explained the situtation to them. After speaking with several different people and explaining the situtation over and over again. They said there was no record of any said agreement and that the account is still past due.  When I told them that I looked into there company there were a ton of complaints against them stating this was a fradulant company.  I informed them that now it was my turn to take legal action against them.  I paid the amount that was agreed upon, which I should not have paid at all, therefore, I would seek legal action against them for the threating phone calls along with the fradulant charges. They ened up hanging up on me.
