3 GOTCHAS THAT YOU NEED TO KNOW UP FRONT, WITH THE $99 ALL ACCESS YOU ARE SIGNING UP FOR A 2 YEAR ACCESS THIS WILL COST YOU $1999, $199 PER MONTH UNTIL THE ENTIRE $1999 IS PAID IN FULL, YOU MUST LOG IN TO THEIR WEBSITE TO CANCEL, YOU MUST CANCEL IN 30 DAYS OR YOU WILL BE CHARGED A $600 CANCELLATION FEE. I specified UPFRONT, verbally and via email, that I did not want a continuing program but after 30 day, my account was charged $199. They said I stilll needed to have logged on and cancelled within the 30 days.

I think that preplogic has a good product but they just need to be more forthcoming about the $1999/2year access; and they need to spell out in big bold letters that there is a $600 CANCELLATION AFTER THE 30 DAY PERIOD. And of course I still think that the NO CANCELLATION is an unfair GOTCHA. People need to understand that this company has orchestrated a program similar to CELL PHONES and GYM MEMBERSHIPS ONLY THEIR CANCELLATION FEE IS A WHOPPING $600. I've never seen this type of termination fee scam in the IT community. Is it even legal?

Preplogic scam

I've had a simlar experince. I'm working on updating my certiifcations so I can get into a better paying job. I lost my job of eleven years in 2008 and had to take lower paying job as my ceritifations are mostly out of date. My wife cant work and we are struggling and near to losing our home. I called preplogic to order an exam that was on sale for $49.95 and the sales rep talked me into trying the all access trial plan. I work graveyrad shift, so making time for self study is diffcult. I logged into the site once when I first got the access code. I then had an opptunity to work a bit of overtime for the next month. When I got a chance to login again, my access was denied. I came to find out that I had let the month go by and was a few days late in canceling. I opened a case with preplogs and got a call from a billing rep. I explained my situation to her and she told me that she would not of let me cancel if I was even two hours late. She went on to say that if I'm stuggling with my mortage and havent been making my mortgage payments, I coulc pay the $2,400 or so for the access. There was no offer of a cancellation fee, just a demnad for full payment. I could understnad if I was activitly using the site, but with work and overtime I logged into the site maybe twice in the month, did n ot download and software, guides, etc. I've used preplogic before and it has been a fine product, but this is just too much. Everyone goes through hetic times and can alway dedicate time to self study for whatever reason, but to demand full payment for something I havent really used is ridiculous. I'll just have to take my business elsewhere

Similar situation

I have a similar situation.  I bought a prep-test and within minutes they had called offering the 30 day trail.  They did make me aware that I would receive a statement saying I was enrolled in the $1999 2-year access.  All I had to do was call or create a ticket on their web site saying cancel the subscription and everything would be cancelled. So I did.

However I received my next credit card bill and it had a $159 charge.  So I reviewed the online ticket, and they didn't cancel the trail, but they could re-enroll me at a lower price if I just called them.  (I didn't want to be re-enrolled).

So I opened another ticket saying that I didn't want to be enrolled, cancel my subscription, and refund the amount charged.  Another billing cycle passed during this time, and another charge.  The customer service said that I did everything correct, and will take care of everything.

Next credit card statement, another charge.  That's 4 - $159 charges after I cancelled. I called and went to their billing department and went right voice mail.  I then called my credit card company, after talking to them and giving them the story; my credit card company is refunding all 4 charges, and I blocked preplogic from charging my credit card again.

Their product is great, but I will never deal with them again.  Time to find a competitor for my additional 7-9 trainings.

Deceptive Company

This company can say whatever it wants, but they are VERY DECEPTIVE.  Here are some examples:

*Tried to order via their online ordering. PayPal button did not work (should have been my first clue). My credit card wasn't working. Within a minute (literally!) they called me, and called, and emailed....

*Sales rep talked me into $99 all access for one month instead of the $49 for the one exam I wanted.

*When receipt came over on email, it showed the monthly recurring charge of $199 for 12 months.  I immediately emailed and called the rep back on her direct line. She wrote in the email that I just need to cancel before 30 days. I told her this was deceptive and burying this info in the T&C is deceptive. They should state this UPFRONT on their website PERIOD!

*Took and passed my exam- no longer needed the service. Wrote the rep and she said just to put in the cancel ticket. Needless to say since I put in the ticket I have been emailed and called several times to try to talk me out of it.

*After reading the reviews of this company online (something I obviously should have done before purchase- lesson learned!), I opted to close my CC account to avoid further charges.

The funny thing is, their product was good. So why the deceptive practices? Someone needs to tell the owner that s/he will get more biz if this stop this nonsense.

BAD, BAD, BAD!!

Try for 30 days

We appreciate you saying that we have good training and agree. We feel we have the best training on the market and we've helped hundreds of thousands of IT professionals improve their lives. However, we also realize self paced training may not work for everyone and so we give our customers an opportunity to try out software risk-free for 30 days. When our customers can see for themselves that our training can help them meet their goals, they can simply keep their training and continue on with a low price payment plan for full access to our entire training library for several years to come. If a customer decides that our training doesn't work for them, they simply need to cancel within that first 30 days and they owe nothing more. It's that easy.

We're very sorry if you felt our offer to try our training wasn't what you wanted. As long as you canceled you would owe nothing more than your first month trial fee. You stated that you said upfront that you wanted to cancel. However, the program is a trial. You have to cancel the program within the 30 days. If you simply wanted to use our $25,000 of software for $99 for 30 days, you could have - but you needed to cancel. This is precisely what your sales representative explained to you. As for making things clear, we try to do an excellent job of that on our Money Back Guarantee page found on our web site:

prelogic.com/details/money_back_guarantee/default.aspx

The bottom line is that we want technology professionals to make sound decisions. We want each customer to fully understand the training they're purchasing. There is not another IT training company out there who gives you the opportunity to try their software for 30 days - FULL ACCESS - with no obligation to buy. But please understand that we are a business. You have 30 days to try the training. If you keep it, you must pay for it. Most would agree that's a pretty fair opportunity. If you disagree, try returning a software program to Best Buy or Wal Mart after you've opened it and used it for 30 days. They would never allow you to do so. However, we feel it's important for our customers to try out training before they buy.
