Prestige Car Wash What does Unlimited Really Mean? Brockton, Massachusetts
The Prestige Car Wash in Brockton/Canton Mass advertise Unlimited Car Wash, pay monthly. I purchased a monthly subscripton for car washing services as a Christmas Present for my fiance over a year ago. I pay $35.00 per month (upgraded service) thru my credit card, automatic deduction. Last month, as my fiance was going in to have his car washed, the owner informed him that he no longer would allow him to use the "unlimited" car wash program, stating that he has his car washed "too much", citing that he had washed his car seven (7) times the previous month. The owner informed him that he could continue to use the car wash, but would have to pay for an individual car wash. My issue is: What does Unlimited stand for. My opinion: Unlimited means unlimited. Major RipOff!

In looking at the Website they are still advertising "Unlimited Carwashes". The interesting item is that in the Why Join? Section they have the following item.
Wash every day if you like for same low monthly price.

So if they are still advertising it as such and the ONLY reason they are denying it was because he washed it 7 times the previous month, you appear to have a valid complaint.
If that is the case, you also probably could make a bigger issue about it if you really wanted to. But then again they could just not renew you the next month, outright cancel the program for everyone, put in additional terms, or raise the price.

Find the contract you signed and see if says anything about how many washes are allowed per month or for the life of the contract.
If it doesn't list a limit then your fiance could have his car washed everyday if he wanted.

What do you expect for $35? According to your report your fiance had his car washed 7 times for $35. That's $5 per car wash. Can you reasonably expect the car wash owner to make a living at those rates? Suppose you decided to get your car washed twice every day (unlimited, right?). You should be able to get it washed for 58 cents each time. Good deal.
You haven't been ripped off. You are complaining because the car wash owner is not dumb enough to let you pull one over on him. If this is a month to month subscription, as you state, the owner is not obligated to keep giving you $5 car washes forever.
