Prestige Moving & Storage, Ben Levy Low estimate- then charged more than double! Westlake Village California
I contrated Prestige Moving & Storage to move a 1-bedroom apt from San Diego to Austin. The original estimate was for 2000lbs and $1300. After everything was loaded on the truck- the movers gave me the "revised estimate" of 4500lbs and $3000! I, of course was upset, they said I could follow them to the scales (150 miles away) to verify the weight. I immediately called the company, where they assured me if the weight cert. showed lower I would receive a refund. I decided not to make a stink until after my stuff was delivered- which was good, because now after reading all the horror stories of stuff being held hostage- it's scary how these companies work! I have repeatly called and emailed requesting the actual weight on the cert.- reminding them they said I would rec. a refund if due. They assure me everytime they will email it right away. Yesterday, I spoke with a man named Ben Levy. He promised he would take care of the situation. Guess What! I started googling moving scams- his name pops up everywhere for indictments in Fl. a few years ago! I don't mind paying for my actual move at the correct weight- I just want to see the lading bill! This is so frustrating! I had never used a moving company before- I had NO IDEA there were all the irreputable, dishonest scammers! And they all seem to be foreigners! Every name on the indictment list from 2003 were all mid-eastern names. Where is the watchdogs of America? I filed with BBB, Rip-off report, I tried to contact the US Dept of Transportation- they said it wasn't their domain- who's is it! I think this all happened about 8-10 years ago when they deregulated the shipping business. Our government! Whew- that felt good to vent!

PrestigeMoving & Storage is not a real moving company. Not mentioning their demands for extra money after loading up, using unproffesional illegal workers, damaging lots of my items, & lies about almost everything, they failedtodeliversomeofmyhouseholditemsondeliverydayinAugust 2009.
