Complaint Review: Prey-9 German Shepherds - James Albers

Prey-9 German Shepherds - James Albers ripoff false advertises about pure bred German Shepherds but never registers the litter and you can't get your dog AKC registered even if it's in the written contract you signed with him. He is now hiding out in Missouri starting a new business with blood hounds. Holcomb Kansas

We're from CA and in June of 2003 after speaking to James Albers intensively, we decided to purchase a dog from him because the sire and dam he had good german lines and had puppies. We paid $1500 for a pure bred German Shepherd puppy which we were promised AKC registered papers for the litter. Of course I had it put in writing on a contract we both signed before I purchased the puppy.

After we got the puppy in August of 2003 (Litter M) there were no papers with the puppy. We contacted him and he blamed his wife saying she forgot to put the papers with the puppy. He said he would mail it as soon as possible. To make a long story short, we called him every month for those papers for over a year and he never sent them, then he tried to say he couldn't register the sire and dam so we couldn't get our papers till he could do that and Germany was giving him a hard time about the sire and dam's papers.

Then he stopped taking our calls completely and moved to Missouri. We tracked him down in Poplar Bluff and told him we wanted our papers or we would report him to the Better Business Bureau. Still we don't have the papers and we've reported him to the BBB.

We are currently following up with the BBB every month telling them our case still isn't resolved because when the BBB contacted him, James Albers told the BBB our dispute had been resolved. We contacted the BBB in Kansas and Missouri and they advised us to contact the Atty. General in Missouri because our case hasn't been resolved yet. We are awaiting to hear from the Atty. General.

I encourage anyone who has been ripped off by James Albers to file a report with the BBB or contact the Missouri Atty. General at (573) 751-6887. Let them know there is already a case open on Prey-9 James Albers and tell them you want to file your own report. Together, we can be a stronger influence for the BBB and Atty. General's office to resolve our cases. If we don't get this resolved by the BBB and Atty. General they said our only alternative is to take him to small claims court. I don't mind doing this if we all decide to take him to small claims together.

Just FYI his website is no longer up and he has disconnected all the numbers we have for him. I want this guy out of business and I want my money back. Feel free to contact me by using the rebuttal box below.

STOP! ..before you think about using the Better Business Bureau (BBB)... CLICK HERE to see how other consumers were victimized by the BBB's false or misleading information. Don't be fooled! It has been reported, when there are thousands of complaints and other investigations underway by authorities, the BBB has no choice but to finally give an UNsatisfactory rating to a BBB member business that is paying the BBB big membership fees every year. When a business is reported that is NOT a BBB member, BBB files WILL more likely show an UNsatisfactory rating, then reportedly shake down that company to become a member of the BBB. One positive thing about the BBB is, either way, if a business has an unsatisfactory rating with the BBB, you can be sure, the business is bad. But what about all those BBB member businesses that had complaints filed against them? Consumers never get to hear about them. What about the BBB advertising to the public? Is this a false and misleading perception they are giving about consumer confidence when dealing with a business? Click here to understand more of what consumers and business alike are saying about the BBB. You decide. ..Remember. The BBB membership is not earned, it's paid for!

We live Georgia and a few months ago my husband had contacted James by telephone to inquire about his puppies. After talking with him for a few days my husband decided to purchase a puppy from him. We sent our money $1500, and received our dog a few days later. No problems.

We took Rambo to our vet just to have him looked at. The vet had discovered a small patch of hair missing. He tested positive for mange.

We immediatly contacted James and told him the problem and told him we wanted our money back and for him to pay the vet bills. No problem, he agreed.

Since then my Husband has made numerous attemps to contact him and yet no response. His cell phone has been disconnected and his web site is not available.

Can someone help me resolve this matter???

Heres what I suggest the next time you buy a dog from a breeder.
1. Take the time and effort to take a trip to the breeders kennel... see if the dogs are in living condition... Responsible breeders would welcome you to their kennel at anytime. If you plan on buying a puppy from them make sure that the AKC papers are there with the puppies.

2. If the breeder says the dog is titled (BH,SchH,ETC) Ask for scorebooks to prove the titling was done. This includes Other paper work such as KKL and other show papers. Make sure you get everything.

3. Do your homework! Don't just buy from any breeder or importer. Start a friendship with the breeder... If he or she sounds right then do it.... The best thing to do is to go to a local schutzhund club and ask for references of breeders. Go to http://www.gsdca-wda.org/ to find responsible breeders.
