Price Transfer - Carson California Charged over $2,100.00 to open door of container Carson CA.
We shipped a container of used heavy equipment parts for export through L.A. port and was told it needed to be examined. The CBP Officer waited a week to request info from us. We provided detailed photos of the loaded container and the packing list to the CBP Officer who still insisted on doing an exam.
Fine, except the exam didn't take place for another week! All the while charges racking up by Price Transfer, the company elected by (you guessed it) CBP to hold the container for examination. They charged for "seizure" which did not even happen and all kinds of bogus charges amounting to over $2,100!!!
Oh, and the "exam" they had to do consisted of opening the rear doors of the container, peeking inside then closing it back up. No devanning or removal of the cargo of any kind. After they stuck a bill in our face for $2,100+, they demanded payment immediately or our container/freight would be held hostage.
This is corruption to the core. I would appreciate if CBP opened an investigation to see if CBP officers are getting any type of kickbacks or under the table compensation from Price Transfer.
