Complaint Review: PRICELINE.COM

PRICELINE.COM I AM A VICTIM OF FRAUD, PERPETRATED BY PRICELINE Internet Internet

Yesterday I went online to Priceline to find a deal on a hotel in the San Fernando Valley. I was given a broad choice of areas: Woodland Hills, Studio City, Warner Center, Universal City. (My husband and I must travel to one of these areas for a very important cancer surgery on October 6.)

I placed a bid on a hotel, assuming it would be in the area near Sherman Oaks, where the doctor and hospital are. But I was "awarded" accommodations in Eagle Rock, which is waaaay far out west of the San Fernando Valley. And after Bill's surgery, we must get back to the hotel FAST, so it must be close to the hospital! Eagle Rock is so far away, it is ridiculous!!! I have it in writing that Eagle Rock was not even among the areas up for consideration.

Yet when I wrote to Priceline that Eagle Rock was not acceptable, they refused to return my $187.14 to my VISA account, saying "we have a contract that cannot be broken". This is clearly a rip-off!!!! I want to warn consumers about Priceline, that it is inflexible to its customers even when it is in error, as it clearly is in this case.

"You assumed. Did you bother to mapquest it to see where exactly it would be?"

You put in an area. They give you a list of areas IN that area. Supposedly. You shouldn't have to mapquest it.

"When you place a bid, you enter into a contract. If you win the bid, you have to honor that contract. You did not do your research before entering this contract. I'm betting you didn't read the terms and conditions of service either. "

It took me over 2 hours to get through just half of that thing. And even after that I still understood less than 1 percent of that. It is written by lawyers, for lawyers, in lawyer mumbo jumbo..so regular people don't wanna go through the hassel of reading 4 hours worth of crap they cant understand, and just agree to it without reading. That is what they want, so they can screw you.

"When you put in your destination and dates you'll be there in Priceline, they gove you many different options of hotels before they ask for your credit card information."

You put in your dates youll be staying. You put what area you want. THEN on the next page it tells you "Priceline will immediately charge your credit card the total cost of your stay." Which it didn't say...Hey tell us the area you want (which we will get wrong), the dates you want..give us your credit card information..and once you hit accept, if someone takes your price we won't tell you first, we will automatically book it, charge you, and refuse to fix the problem when we do screw it up.

You dont know what your getting before they charge you. You don't get a list of anything. They just book it and charge you and that is it.

" I'm going to guess you went for the lowest price available and you were going to get what you paid for. This is no rip off. You need to learn to research more."

It IS a rip off...they do it that way because they know how many people are going to make honest to god mistakes...and there laughable customer service could care less. Maybe you should of researched more.

When something like this happens to you, I hope no one tries to understand and you get as screwed over as this lady.
