My husand's grandmother passed away and he needed to get out west as quickly as possible. I called a few airlines and the bereavement fares for last minute travel were totally outrageous so I went on an internet search.

I was simply checking out fares. I had seen and heard ads for priceline so I thought I would give it a try. It should have opened my eyes when I had to enter a credit card number for just a request. Once I received the request I did not like the price or itinerary so I went to lowestfare.com (who I ended up knowingly purchasing from).

Anyway, I never clicked on an acceptance button or agreed to anything, all I saw was the itinerary and it was unacceptable. Only when I received my Discover bill the next month did I see what had happened. I pulled back up the priceline info and to my dismay it only tells you after the price has been met that there is no way getting out of the contract.

How misleading is this! I too called them and everyone I spoke with was horribly rude and not willing to bend any rules. I also asked for coporate numbers, higher up's etc. and never received any info. I have kept emailing and calling and no one will provide me with this information. I am too disgusted for words.

Priceline is one of the biggest scams out there. CONSUMER BEWARE!

First let me offer my condolences for your husbands loss. I do have to tell you though, that Priceline is very clear about how the website works. They let you know in advanced that you only get to pick the dates and the destination for your trip. They also let you name your own price and then they search for the best available fair and book it. The website tells you several times that once you bid on a price, you can't change your mind. I do not work for Priceline or have any particular interest in them. I don't really even use them that much. However, I understand how it works. I suggest reading the instructions more carefully before you purchase anything from a website. I feel that it is unfair to post a message about a company, when it didn't do anything wrong. I'm sorry to say, but it was your mistake. The fact that customer service was rude to you is unacceptable, but the rest of it is not their fault.
