I worked for prime for almost a year. when freight started to get really bad (sitting for 2 days) I inquired about pulling off the load boards (getloaded.com, Internetruckstop.com) I was told "those people never pay". Ok I'll agree some brokers don't pay, but the credit scores of all the brokers are there for you to see. If you have 1500 trucks sitting in various locations you might want to pull for the guy who has a 100% rating. The majority of drivers don't like sitting around going broke. Not to mention the $768 a week truck payment and $300 in misc fixed expenses that will be billed to you even if you don't move all week. When back in Springfield on several occasions I wandered over the the Campus Inn (primes orientation hotel & classes), 30-40+ new hires each and every week.

Don't you think it would be a good idea to take care of the people you already have before you bring in more? Prime built an awsome facility in Springfield, don't get me wrong, but I would much rather be out with a loaded trailer v/s waiting in line for a load behind 40 new hires just because they have trucks without drivers. When the freight is good, Prime is good, but there policy is to pack um in like sardines. Fact: there are atlease 2-3 new hires that have to wait all weekend after orientation to select a truck, because Prime is waiting on people to quit over the weekend. Please consider this when researching this company

You've Discovered the Prime Ripoff!

#2Consumer Suggestion

Matt:

Prime (and other companies) specialize in these FLEASE PURCHASE scams. They go out of their way to refer to you as an "owner operator", "independent businessman" etc, etc, etc. Do you now see how "independent" you are?

Prime gets a big tax break by you going into this while still holding you hostage by pulling all the strings. If you're supposed to be so much of an independent businessman, then why can't you prospect for your own freight?

They will go overboard flattering you by such terms as "owner operator, "independent businessman", "business partner" when in reality they think you are stupid because you agreed to this BS while they hold all the cards and pull all the strings while getting their tax breaks!
