I knew something was off! This woman, Wendy Letman, called me yesterday because "someone I know, either family or friend, highly recommended me" for a "staffing/training & development" position.

Sounds great with part-time, flex-time, and home-based opportunities available. Sounds plausible to me since my major is Human Resources with an emphasis on training & development.

Here's what sounded fishy to me: she would not tell me who or where she received my name from, she could not give me a job title, or exact job description, and the required qualifications for the position were vague.

Clue #1: If someone refers you for a position, it is in the company's and your own best interest to relay from whom the referral came so that you can obtain information about the company from someone you know and trust. It also legitimizes the reference so that you know the company isn't involved in scam operations - like Primerica is.

Clue #2: It is standard practice for Human Resources Departments to document all job titles and descriptions and to disclose them to any and all applicants. If the company can't provide you with the title and descriptions in writing - then the you should safely assume that the position DOESN'T EXIST! Any legitimate HR manager will tell you the same.

Clue #3: Luckily I found this website before going in for an interview this coming Saturday, and saw the notes about the $199 trining fee. Wendy Letman said that the people on this site are "misinformed" and that the trining is free. The fee is for "insurance licensing and a credit check which is mandatory by state law." When I asked her how this applied to my "staffing/training & development" position she said that "it makes perfect sense that you would need to be qualified and licensed to train other employees.

ANY POSITION which requires upfront costs from you for a management or HR position is bogus! Don't fall for that!

I also pointed out that many people on this site felt they were misled to believe that they would be staffing/training new employees, but actually wound up selling life insurance to old people. She said that "the poeple on this site are missing the big picture. This position is about owning your own business. Salary positions are weighted down by long hours. The freedon you would have here to make your own hours and manage your own business is what it's all about."

It's a load of crap people! BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE!!!
